Welcome to Wages to Wealth. This account is a real-time record of building a stronger financial life from employment income. The goal is to earn more, use money intentionally, build assets over time, and improve my financial position every year.

A financial plan does not need to be complicated to be effective. Earn more when possible. Spend intentionally. Invest consistently. Keep costs low. Avoid changing the plan because of short-term noise. Simple habits repeated for years can do a lot of the heavy lifting.

I’m trying to focus less on finding the “perfect” investment and more on building a system I can keep following.Regular contributions, broad diversification, low fees, and patience may not be exciting—but consistency is usually more useful than constantly changing strategies.

@GtbTrade Good question to ask yourself, I ask myself every time I buy anything because every dollar could be another investment. You become surprised with how little you really need the other stuff

Every paycheck I ask myself one question: “Will I remember buying this in 10 years?” The answer is usually no. That’s why I keep buying stocks.

@GtbTrade I'm transferring money to my P2P lending platform so I can look over loans. It's just as good as looking through stocks, new addiction. So far, I have only contributed 900 so far. I plan to do much more in the future.

@GtbTrade Congrats, I'm doing a running theme on my X about my wealth growing as well. Hope you reach your goal. Every dollar counts, 600 in a week is solid.

For everyone new here: What’s one Canadian investing topic you wish someone explained to you earlier? TFSA? RRSP? FHSA? RESP? Taxable accounts? ETFs? Dividends? Fees? Taxes? Real estate? Reply with one. I’ll turn the best questions into posts.

@AboundWealth @MiliauEm He has set aside. I think 30k USD to cover costs for when it launches he paying for the data needed. It's called an API, I believe, im not technical enough. It's like all the financial data sent to the site to organize all the data and such to display it nicely.

What’s a purchase under $100 that genuinely improved your finances? A book, a tool, an app, a course correction. The replies to this become a shopping list worth more than most paid newsletters. Drop yours.

@AboundWealth @MiliauEm To be honest, it's not up yet he has been building it for months and works at a company that designs like banking systems or something. His job confuses me, just the title. I don't think he wants the name shared.

@WagetoWealth Oh that’s pretty good. I’d take a look, even though I like the platform I use, but sounds like it’s a Canada thing. I’m in the US.

I don’t view budgeting as cutting everything enjoyable. The goal is knowing where my money goes, deciding what matters, and making sure investing happens consistently. A budget should support the life you want—not make you feel guilty for spending.

@AboundWealth They have good budgeting functions, and trades are free, and options are as well if you are into those. So it's good for DIY investing for registered accounts. For those wanting help, they also have other options that aren't insane on the cost. I think there managed is .5%.

@Mr_Derivatives So, no correlation whatsoever, and it could be red or green? Which is literally the option at all times, and doesn't change regardless of the previous years' green's and reds.

@kinginvestings I think it is better to own a broad market index for cheap and not take the chance or concerns about being wrong. I try alternative investment options myself because I also wanted to be a stock picker and just unsure if it's worth the risk to try.

@ShaziGoalie Jeez, that is hurtful, we will be looking for a home in the Hamilton/Niagara region, probably in 3 years or so. Though we won't be looking in the 700k range. Preferably 450k or less.

In 2022, someone paid $700K to buy a BRAND NEW studio apartment in Hamilton, less than 500 sq feet in size. I don't know what was the plan here but they were renting this out for $1800/month. They just sold for it for a 62% loss at $263K.

@MeghanChayka The Little Book that still Beats the Market, it's a good one and quick. The Most Important Thing: Uncommon Sense for the Thoughtful Investor is another option as Howark Mark's is amazing.

I’m currently looking into an unsecured line of credit that I may use to invest. I already invest with a secured LOC, but I’ve reached the limit there. This is the riskier side of my strategy, so I’m keeping it limited to what I can handle and documenting the process honestly.

@Smartnetworth1 Well said, it's really about budgeting, spending less than you make and investing the rest. Spend how you want with purpose. Transferring your wages to wealth over time is how retirement works.

People will finance a $5,000 vacation on a credit card at 24% interest but will hesitate to invest $500 a month in the stock market because it's "too risky." Your mindset is often the biggest investment you'll ever make. That’s real.
