For example, “translate the video into an 8-bit home console game.” YouTube Shorts remixed through Omni have digital watermarks, identifying metadata and link back to the original video. Plus it’s no cost to users.

Because of the incessant anti-trans media coverage and the BBC - @bbcnews and @rburgessbbc - telling the public it is now ok to disrespect trans people, getting help from those who should be protecting us is becoming more difficult. This woman has just contacted me, after going to @DurhamPolice in the last 48 hours following sustained online harassment: “A Police Force has now effectively told me that because hostile individuals can locate decades-old press articles about me, I can be repeatedly deadnamed and misgendered online without any meaningful protection from harassment law. “Apparently if you are a trans person who speaks publicly, you become a “semi-public figure” and therefore fair game for sustained hostile republication campaigns. “But the most astonishing part? “The officer stated there was ‘realistically no evidence to prove deadnaming you repeatedly shows an intention to cause harassment.’ “No intent? “A man repeatedly refers to a transgender woman as “a man”, repeatedly uses her previous name, amplifies hostile content between accounts, republishes abuse to hostile audiences, participates in online pile-ons, and the police say there is “no evidence” of intent to harass. “It is difficult to imagine conduct more obviously calculated to cause distress to a trans person. “Deadnaming is not neutral historical discussion. It is a targeted psychological weapon used specifically against transgender people to humiliate, invalidate, and degrade them. “And this is precisely the problem with policing and the law’s failure to understand social media harassment. “Social media is not a static newspaper clipping from 30 years ago, soon forgotten. “It is: “persistent publication algorithmic resurfacing reposting and memeification network amplification AI regeneration cumulative psychological harm inflicted *every single day* the material remains live. “What matters is not whether something once existed somewhere in an archive. “What matters is the repeated, deliberate, hostile weaponisation of that material against a living person today. “By that Police force’s logic, no trans person with any historic public footprint could ever meaningfully be harassed by deadnaming again. “It is an absurd and dangerous proposition. “Judges themselves are now openly acknowledging that “the law has not kept up with the realities of social media.” “This case proves it.” Terrible @DurhamPolice . So much for Labour toughening hate crime laws and making trans hate an aggravated offence! @lisanandy
