@lancelachlan @TerraOrBust Any conditions will only benefit the EU. We’d be the ones pleading to join so on the weaker end of any ‘negotiations’.

There are no “conditions” because there’s no deal on the table yet. That’s what negotiations are for. Let negotiators work out an arrangement acceptable to both the UK and the EU, then put the final deal to the British public in a referendum and let people decide based on facts instead of slogans this time.

Only 34% of the public are now opposed to rejoining the EU. The Brexit fantasy is collapsing under the weight of reality - lost trade, higher costs, staff shortages and lower growth. People were sold slogans. Now they’re paying the bill. 66% say they would prefer to rejoin 🇪🇺

@stuey_beef Re-joining the EU means our parliament can always say “not me guv it’s Brussels” when things go wrong absolving them of any responsibility. If that happens we could save the country the cost of being a member by getting rid of most if not all of our politicians!

The central promise of Brexit was simple: make laws in Britain, by people you can vote out, not in Brussels by officials you never chose and cannot remove. Labour’s new “EU reset” turns that on its head, with plans to accept entire packages of future EU rules via a framework Bill that lets ministers plug in Brussels’ decisions almost automatically. Nigel Farage and others call this “re‑establishing EU dominance over Britain by the back door” – we become a rule‑taker again, only this time without even the limited voice we had as formal members. If a foreign power can shape your laws and your economic model while your own Parliament is reduced to rubber‑stamping, that is not the self‑governing democracy people thought they were voting to restore. This is not “getting Brexit done”, it is quietly handing back control and hoping the public are too exhausted to notice until it’s too late.

Burnham, like the rest of the Epstein Labour Party class believe themselves to be entitled corporate autocrats. They do not believe in democracy. They believe in cleptocracy.
James Dunne@yusfarandtic

News on the ground from Makerfield is that Andy Burnham is already getting angry and shouting at people. His sense of self-entitlement is revealing itself. It’s reasonable to assume that interactions with constituents aren’t going the way that he hoped?

@HJB_News__ Her lack of financial experience is all too plain to see. She’s learning on the job or trying to, not good for such an important role and why Starmer appointed such an inexperienced, non commercial person is frankly staggering. But then his judgements are dismal and dangerous.

Rachel Reeves Chancellor of the Exchequer joined the Bank of England straight after university on their graduate scheme as a junior to mid-level economist at best. She also worked at HBOS, reports show her actual role was in customer relations, managing complaints. Now she’s the UK government’s chief finance minister.

@implausibleblog Scotland would have to adopt the Euro and abide by all the rules and regulations of the EU. It would have far less say in its destiny than it currently has. I’m not sure the Scots would be happy with that.

@MrMutantes Over the past 14 years the Conservatives faced the worst pandemic in history, a global financial meltdown, an internal political battle over Brexit and numerous wars. This government is making a pigs ear of the economy blaming a war of which we have no part.

🚨 #BBCQT audience member in Scotland absolutely nails it 👏 “We need back into the European Union… lots of the things we’re talking about tonight and the economic problems we’re facing are as a result of Brexit.” Labour can stop the infighting, unite the union and actually tackle the cost of living by dropping the red lines and making the honest case for rejoin. This is 💯 correct 👏 #bbcqt

🚨 James O’Brien ABSOLUTELY RINSES a Brexit voter live on LBC Brexit voter Richard: “You’re very rude to me, aren’t you?” James: “I am very rude to you because of what you’ve done to my country.” One year on: GDP hit by 6-8%, trade down 15%, businesses struggling, no sunlit uplands in sight, just excuses. This level of brutal accountability is what we need back. Full rinse here 👇👇👇👇

Brexit has cost us billions in lost trade and left us with a stagnant economy. Our amendment to the King's Speech called on the government to start negotiating a new customs union with the EU to cut import costs and help bring prices down for everyone.

I’ve written to the Prime Minister urging him to give Labour MPs a free vote on our amendment to the King’s Speech. A UK-EU Customs Union is a vital first step in rebuilding our relationship with Europe. MPs must be free to vote for what is best for our economy and our country.
