Making a street appear and feel narrower causes drivers to navigate more cautiously, reducing speed and paying closer attention to potential conflicts. Want to make your streets safer? Try optical narrowing.

There’s only 2 freestanding Arthur Treacher’s left in the US (both in Ohio). And we went to one yesterday. Full video experience, here: tiktok.com/t/ZPR7dC9Yx/

@jennybrodie2 Ha! We had a fun time. It's certainly not fine dining, but fun for the nostalgia if you went there as a kid. 😆

@WalkerEvans We drove past this the other day and my friend was like do you want to stop?!? Seems like we made the right call by not stopping.

Yes, I had dinner at the last remaining Ponderosa in Central Ohio last night. This has become way more popular on TikTok than it has any reason to be: @columbusunderground/video/7278510217829043502" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">tiktok.com/@columbusunder

@WalkerEvans @MobileHarv Unfortunately it is currently unsafe to ride a bicycle in Columbus. Safe dedicated SEPARATED bike lanes are needed. I know too many people that have been struck by cars while riding bicycles in Columbus. Painted lines are bullshit and “sharrows” are worse.

@susanbeeha @MobileHarv Agreed that transit improvements are needed, and are in the works. We do not need more parking, as it will only accommodate more cars, more driving, more traffic. Offering alternatives (walking, biking, bus, etc) is the best path forward.

@MobileHarv @WalkerEvans One of the problems that we have on the Southside is infill apartments being built without dedicated parking. If COTA actually worked on the Southside it wouldn’t be an issue but unfortunately it sucks here. So more cars parked on already crowded streets.

@CCouncilReview My opinion is my opinion, regardless of who/what it aligns with or doesn't. I'm certainly not going to carry water for the advocacy of suburban sprawl and car-dependence. 🤷

@CCouncilReview My understanding of the C-ville folks complaints is that they don't want these changes to happen AT ALL. Not that they want the changes to happen faster for their residential streets. Maybe I'm just inferring that from the D's article. But that's the standard NIMBY argument.

@CCouncilReview And to be clear, I agree with you that the neighborhood zoning updates should be happening at the same time as the corridors instead of this staggered approach. But opposing it entirely isn't helpful either.

@CCouncilReview The Zone-In website states that the initial focus is along the corridors (existing transit route and commercial districts) with Summer 2024 being the second phase (neighborhoods and business centers): zone-in-columbus.hub.arcgis.com

@CCouncilReview Also, the "I'm fighting against all zoning updates because I want economic equity between development company sizes (from the lowly subcontractor to the highest Borror)" is a take I have not yet heard.

@CCouncilReview My understanding is that corridors are phase 1 and the rest of the city is phase 2. Which means the thing you want is coming, just not immediately. That's a reason to support speeding the process along, not fighting against it.
