C'est très différent (le fonctionnement de la série américaine). Les voitures étaient déjà dans la voie des stands. Les gens entourent la voiture, il y a beaucoup de monde et je ne savais pas vraiment quoi faire. Alors je marchais un peu partout en essayant de trouver ma voiture et mon équipe. Ça m'a pris un moment, mais au final j'avais plus de temps que ce que je pensais au départ. J'ai essayé d'être ouvert d'esprit (concernant les ovales) et prêt à tout, mais je n'étais pas prêt pour ça. C'était très chaotique, beaucoup de voitures arrivaient de gauche et de droite, surtout au départ. Mais une fois que j'ai trouvé mon rythme, les choses ont commencé à s'améliorer un peu. Au final, oui, il y aura toujours des gens qui mettront beaucoup de pression sur moi. La pression fait partie de ma vie. Et j'ai toujours le sentiment que plus la pression est grande, meilleur je deviens. Et au final, personne ne pourra me mettre plus de pression que celle que je me mets moi-même. Le plus important pour moi, c'est que je me sens de plus en plus à l'aise chaque fois que je monte dans la voiture, et que les choses deviennent naturelles et sans effort." The only problem I have with switching to endurance is that the calendar is (understandably) short. WEC, IMSA, ELMS have me sorted for less then a half of the weekends in the year, whilst F1 alone has 22 race weekends.

One of the best things back in the day was watching someone slowly reel in the cars ahead lap after lap. Watching the timing and seeing a tenth or two come off each lap and wondering if they’ll have enough time.

The thing some folks don't always recognize is that when you increase the power, soften tires and decrease overall downforce, that's going to spread the field out But it also creates less turbulence, easier passes, and more strategic options. But you have to watch the stopwatch.
