Shabbat Shalom to everyone! It is now Erev Shabbat on the North American east coast, so welcome to our Praise and Worship Time. We have some wonderful praise and worship songs today in the playlist at the end of this post, and I know that you will be blessed by these songs. In addition, I would like to share my narrative here on our last worship song in today’s song playlist below, titled, “Rise Again” by Dallas Holm. Here are 5 Biblical themes from the song “Rise Again” by Dallas Holm. The song is written from Jesus’ point of view as He faces the cross and declares His coming victory over death. 1️⃣ Victory Over Death and the Grave Theme: The song boldly declares that death has no final power over Jesus. Even when people kill Him and bury His body, He will rise again because nothing on earth can hold Him down. Lyrics: “‘Cause I’ll rise again / Ain’t no power on earth can keep Me down / Yes, I’ll rise again / Death can’t keep Me in the ground” “Go ahead, and bury Me / But very soon, I will be free” Scriptural Basis: • 1 Corinthians 15:54-57 – “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?… Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” • Hosea 13:14 – “I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death.” • Acts 2:24 – “Whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.” Summary: Like the empty tomb on the first morning of the week, the song shouts the good news that Jesus conquered death. The simple, strong words give hope that the same power that raised Jesus can give believers confidence even when facing hard or scary times. 2️⃣ Jesus’ Willing Sacrifice on the Cross Theme: Jesus calmly invites people to carry out the crucifixion, showing that He chose to die for us out of love, even while knowing the pain it would bring. Lyrics: “Go ahead, drive the nails in My hands / Laugh at Me where you stand / Go ahead, and say it isn’t Me” Scriptural Basis: • Isaiah 53:7 – “He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter.” • John 10:18 – “No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.” • Luke 23:34 – “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” Summary: The song reminds us that Jesus was not a helpless victim - - He willingly gave His life. His calm words in the face of being mocked show deep love and forgiveness, helping us understand the cost of our salvation. 3️⃣ Unchanging Love Despite Rejection Theme: Even when people mock Jesus and put Him to death, His love for them stays the same. Nothing they do can stop His care for humanity. Lyrics: “Go ahead, mock My name / My love for you is still the same” Scriptural Basis: • Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” • John 13:1 – “Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.” • Ephesians 3:19 – “To know the love of Christ which passes knowledge.” Summary: This part of the song highlights that God’s love is steady and strong, even when we turn away or hurt Him. It offers comfort that His love does not depend on how “good” we are. 4️⃣ The Powerlessness of Human Evil Against God’s Plan Theme: People may think they have won by killing Jesus, but their actions cannot stop God’s plan. Jesus knows the final outcome and promises victory. Lyrics: “Go ahead, and say it isn’t Me / The day will come when you will see” “Go ahead, and bury Me / But very soon, I will be free” Scriptural Basis: • Acts 4:27-28 – “For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus… they have gathered together to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done.” • Genesis 50:20 – “But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good.” • Psalm 2:1-4 – “Why do the nations rage… He who sits in the heavens shall laugh.” Summary: The song shows that evil and rejection cannot defeat God’s purposes. What looks like total defeat on the Day of Crucifixion becomes total victory three days later, giving believers courage when life feels unfair or out of control. 5️⃣ The Certain Hope of Resurrection Theme: Jesus promises that death is not the end. Because He rose, everyone who trusts in Him can look forward to new life after death. Lyrics: “‘Cause I’ll rise again… Death can’t keep Me in the ground” “The day will come when you will see” Scriptural Basis: • John 11:25-26 – “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” • 1 Thessalonians 4:14 – “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.” • 1 Peter 1:3 – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” Summary: The repeated promise “I’ll rise again” points to the core Christian hope: because Jesus defeated death, those who follow Him do not need to fear the grave. It brings comfort and strength, especially when facing loss or the end of life. These themes capture the heart of the song - - Jesus’ suffering, love, and ultimate triumph. In difficult seasons, many people find these words point them back to the living hope we have in Christ. Let us now join together in worship of our Lord, who died and rose again to show all humanity that Jesus is God and our Savior. I have added a silent 10-second outro (in this case, a black screen) at the end of the last song to permit us to continue our worship before the closing Aaronic Blessing is given. We will use this playlist: youtube.com/playlist?list=…

Truth! “It is the time to seek the Lord.” Do not make light of this; it may be your last call from destruction, the final syllable from the lip of grace.” 🙌🕊️🤍

“It is the time to seek the LORD.” ~Hosea 10:12 The month of April is said to derive its name from the Latin verb aperio, which means to open, because all the buds and blossoms are now opening, and we have arrived at the gates of the flowery season. Reader, if you are not yet saved, may your heart, in keeping with the universal awakening of nature, be opened to receive the Lord. Every blossoming flower warns you that it is time to seek the Lord; do not be out of tune with nature, but let your heart bud and bloom with holy desires. If you tell me that the warm blood of youth leaps in your veins, then I entreat you, give your vigor to the Lord. It was my unspeakable happiness to be called in early youth, and I am thankful to the Lord every day for that. Salvation is priceless, let it come when it may, but oh, an early salvation has a double value in it. Young men and women, since you may die before you reach your prime, “It is the time to seek the Lord.” You who feel the first signs of decay, quicken your pace: That chest pain, that biopsy report, are warnings that you must not trifle with; with you it is definitely time to seek the Lord. Did I observe a little gray, a little thinning in your hair? Years are flying by, and death is drawing nearer by the day; let each return of spring arouse you to set your house in order. Dear reader, if you are now advanced in years, let me entreat and implore you to delay no longer. There is a day of grace for you now—be thankful for that—but it is a limited season and grows shorter every time the clock ticks. Here in the silence of your room, on this first night of another month, I speak to you as best I can by paper and ink, and from my inmost soul, as God’s servant, I lay before you this warning, “It is the time to seek the Lord.” Do not make light of this; it may be your last call from destruction, the final syllable from the lip of grace. ~C.H. Spurgeon

Yes, I remember hearing it in the mid-1980s. Then, I found it on YouTube about 2 years ago, and put it in the song list in 2024. Then, I found it again last night. 🕊️🙌

He shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. ~Isaiah 53:10 Ask God to fulfill this promise quickly, all you who love the Lord. It is easy work to pray when our desires are fixed and established on God's own promise. How can He who gave the word refuse to keep it? Immutable truth cannot demean itself by a lie, and eternal faithfulness cannot degrade itself by neglect. God must bless His Son; His covenant binds Him to it. The Spirit prompts us to ask for Jesus what God the Father decrees to give Him. Whenever you are praying for the kingdom of Christ, let your eyes behold the dawning of the blessed day that draws near, when the Crucified will receive His coronation in the place where men rejected Him. Take courage, you who prayerfully work for Christ with only scant success—it will not always be this way; better times are ahead. Your eyes cannot see the wonderful future: borrow the telescope of faith; wipe the misty breath of your doubts from the viewfinder; look through it and behold the coming glory. Reader, let us ask, do you make this your constant prayer? Remember that the same Christ who tells us to say, “Give us each day our daily bread,” first gave us this petition, “Hallowed be your name; your kingdom come; your will be done in earth as it is in heaven.” Do not let your prayers be all about your own sins, your own desires, your own imperfections, your own trials, but let them climb the starry ladder and get up to Christ Himself, and then as you draw near to the blood-sprinkled mercy-seat, offer this prayer continually: “Lord, extend the kingdom of Your dear Son.” When you fervently present such a petition, it will elevate the spirit of all your devotions. Make sure that you prove the sincerity of your prayer by working to promote the Lord’s glory. ~C.H. Spurgeon

Jesus came to earth to die for our sins, and to rise again from the dead to prove that He is God. And He did.
