Hitler positivity and jew negativity are basically the zoomer version of punk rock. It's rebellion against the taboos of the previous generations. This is normal and to be expected. That it's offensive to the previous generation is precisely the point.

@EliAfriatISR Respect for the bravery, but he made one mistake: you kill the shooter immediately afterwards. Lethal force without hesitation. You cannot allow them any kind of chance to continue or fight back, they've already shown their intentions loud and clear.

A young man from the Jewish community emerged as a hero during the Sydney Hanukkah party massacre. With extraordinary bravery, he confronted an armed terrorist with only his bare hands, managed to disarm him and neutralize the threat. His incredible courage not only saved many lives but also put his own life at risk.

@samvaknin Not a surprise I suppose, given the herd nature of human beings. Most of us to some degree are prone to mirroring those around us, especially if we perceive them as the in group.

@ID_AA_Carmack Humanity largely replaced pictographic language with written language a long time ago, I imagine because it was simply a better medium for expressing precise information efficiently. It appears that we feel the need to re-learn this lesson.

There have been countless efforts to make software development “more visual”, but anything that isn’t a simple collection of human (and LLM!) readable text files continues to step on land mines.

Why are people "vibe coding" games with @threejs instead of using game engines like Unity or Unreal? I got a ton of questions and messages about this and wanted to write some of my thoughts in more detail.

When we deal with people we often expect too much of them, and show limited patience. But when we deal with the disabled we show great patience, because we don't expect more. I actually think we should apply the latter attitude to the former: we are all in some sense limited.

@SStricklandMMA Just take him up on the offer dude. Three days with him, three rounds with you. It's more than fair. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. You and him might have more in common than you think, except he seems to have overcome his demons, you're still fighting yours.

@HilzFuld The thing I find interesting is how different people live in totally different realities. Seems yours is the "I'm persecuted" reality, the one where everyone's out to get you! Kind of comical from an outsider's point of view! We never really see past our own horizons.

How does it go again? “It’s not antisemitism. Just anti Zionism.” Did I do it right? Disgusting. Canada should be deeply ashamed.

Using twitter starts with boredom or "hey my friends are on here!". But unless you're selling something it ends in frustration. I don't see much redeeming quality to 99% of the discourse here - mine included. I may simply disable it and return in a few years when my game is done.

And I only ever see myself coming on here to kill some down time - and there are better ways of doing that than reading scattered town square gossip.

Add to that, despite following fairly intelligent and interesting people, I can't remember the last time I saw anyone post something that was actually worth reading. It's the exception rather than the norm.

Often online I've argued with, been argued with, or seen others argue, where if the two were in a room and could talk it out, they'd agree on most things and come to an agreeable consensus. I've a friend who points out that text is awful for communication - experience agrees.

Clues that they're bullshitting you are that the story will be too perfect, or clearly exaggerated, and it always makes them look like the hero, even if indirectly.

Manipulative hustlers often invent manufactured stories about themselves. "One time this hilarious thing happened to me...". It will be clever, witty, and makes them look great. Except it never happened - it's just a way to shape your perception of them.

@Jonathan_Blow Part of why I'm poking the bear on this one, is I got the impression you're trying to make a statement about the state of programming and development today - maybe I'm reading too much into it - but if it was, isn't it reasonable to ground it in facts rather than hyperbole?

@Jonathan_Blow If it *was* a relatively feature complete engine then bravo, that's a lot done in a year.

@Jonathan_Blow I've built similar things, as early as 07 - I have some idea. Was it an actual engine, feature complete enough to ship something with, or just a tech demo? The description certainly sounds like the latter - if so why present it as the former?
