Last post to an anonymous “talking points”. The first reported longitudinal association between marijuana use and schizophrenia (Andreasson, Lancet 1987): 45 570 Swedish conscripts (1969) followed 15 y. Those who used MJ > 50 times: 6 fold higher risk for schizophrenia.

Aren't you the one who stormed off mumbling "blocked"? The very same who constantly touts modern "high thc" and "psychosis", but then simultaneously provides claims of "psychosis" as a result of 3% THC? Yet again cites U. Miss, when their own documentation is their patients complained of having to smoke "dozens" of cigarettes provided to "not get high", and have headaches of 3-4% material (dozens), but yet again simultaneously claiming the U.S population were consuming the same material for decades "getting high" (were they also smoking "dozens" of joints for zero effects and headaches?), despite the well documented industry history of THC milestones and genetic availability to cultivators clearly displaying 20%+ was widely available as early as 1974? Which followed your own (incorrect) statements about the very same patent, which you were incorrect in stating THC was not included when it clearly referenced throughout as possessing the same antioxidant and neuroprotective benefits of CBD? Disingenuous you say? Yes, you certainly are. But in fairness, it's typical of the opposition. (Actually, you stated 2006, but it was 99'-03') Have you ever met Mechoulam, Guzman/Sanchez, Melamede and others? Interacted with anyone in the industry? Interacted with patients/consumers? Even ever seen an actual plant? Once again, you clearly display zero understanding of the plant, it's history, the industry, (be that U.S or globally), it's consumers/patients, or the 50+ yr. old body of research.

With Donald Trump’s second presidency giving European hardline conservatives a powerful champion, groups on both sides of the Atlantic want to seize the moment. Their goal? To repurpose America’s soft-power tools to rebuild the West in their image. 🔗 politico.eu/article/maga-f…

Renée Zellweger auditioned three times with Tom Cruise and later received a personal call from Cameron Crowe while she was attending the Sundance Film Festival. Crowe thanked her for her time, and she thanked him for being considered. Just as the call was about to end, Crowe asked, “Well, do you want the job?” Zellweger later admitted that on the day she was cast, it had been so long since she had worked that when she went to an ATM, she didn’t have enough of a balance to make a withdrawal

The Europeans are too stupid to grasp that it would be better to supply Ukraine with long-range weapons to destroy Russian production facilities—and now this: President Zelensky: I'm negotiating for PAC-3 missiles, which are arriving one day after we almost had a blackout. I can publicly say that this is a delay. And why one day? They should have arrived a month earlier. The US doesn't give us weapons for free. We may have different opinions on that. This is being paid for by Europe. One tranche for PURL wasn't paid for. The missiles haven't arrived. I'm simply stating what's happening. I'm sure someone will say again that the Ukrainians should be more grateful. No, they don't – they're fighting for their lives and, in doing so, defending all of Western Europe against those damn Russians.

Martin Lewis is right freezing the student loan threshold is a moral failure. Graduates face a £24,500 stealth tax, while the Sovereign Grant soars 53% (£132.1m). Kate and William inherit billions tax-free while young people struggle with soaring rent and food prices. #Newsnight

It's frustrating to see Big Marijuana exploit a month dedicated to sobriety to attract more Americans to use their high-potency drugs. I hope more Americans see past this dishonest campaign.

Government claims of 'record' defence spending are a nonsense. Since 2021, nominal annual spend has risen only slightly faster than total government spending and by less than foreign development aid. Excluding pensions of retired soldiers, defence spending last year was less than €1 billion. Just 1% of total government spending goes to defence, the lowest in the EU. The capital allocation out to the end of the decade, of €1.7bn, is a pittance and less than the €2.2 billion allocated to culture, comms and sport.

Thinking the previously unthinkable: is it time to narrow the remit of the state's most successful agency in the context of the transformed geopolitical environment? Today's @thecurrency column looks at Ireland's need to wean itself off extreme reliance on foreign multinationals, along with the urgent need to prioritise energy security and defence.
