LC-htauE14 most affected behaviour in aged rats, but results varied for the sexes dependent on type of behaviour sampled (anxiety vs. olfaction). In vivo LC unit recordings in aged male LC-htauE14 rats revealed increased tonic activity & dysregulated oscillatory firing patterns.

We have a new preprint! Here we examined the effects of locus coeruleus (LC)-originated pretangle stage tau (Braak a-c, 1a-b) in rat using AAV-htauE14, and first expressed at the human equivalent age of young adulthood. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 🧵

New paper for those interested in aging, and sex differences at the medial entorhinal-dentate gyrus synapse. Much work dedicated to the approaches to the analysis of paired pulse and tetanic MPP-DG EP variables in 5-9 and 18-20mo male and female rats. 🧵eneuro.org/content/10/7/E…

Age- and sex-dependent differences were identified in levels of granule cell intrinsic excitability, E-S coupling, GABA-B inhibition, and tetanic NMDA current contributions to post-tetanic population spike potentiation. Aged male rats had severely impaired levels of plasticity.
