This is the last two sentences from an article I wrote with Dr Richard Hull who is a Lecturer in Philosophy at the National University of Ireland. He has spoken about “gendered ageism” for many women when it comes to receiving evidence based menopause care and treatment. While taking HRT is always a personal choice, it is one that should be offered early to most women. Indeed, it should be recommended more often by health care practitioners given its key role in alleviating menopausal symptoms,preventing disease and promoting quality of life.

Prof Paul James has been awarded an #MRFF grant of $2.8m for a trial aiming to predict an individual's future risk of common cancers. The project will implement #polygenic risk scores alongside current genetic testing for #cancer predisposition. More: petermac.org/about-us/news-…



Learned Academies and Leukaemia Foundation join forces to accelerate blood cancer research ⏰ Webinar series starts Tues 21 Nov ⏰ Blood cancers are among the most common cancers in Australia, responsible for almost 6,000 cancer-related deaths annually. The @LeukaemiaAus Foundation is hoping that by 2035 no Australian will lose their life to blood cancer, and with this in mind, has engaged the Academy to begin developing a 10-year plan to accelerate breakthrough #bloodcancer research in Australia. This process begins with a consultation process through an initial consultation paper, interviews, and a series of themed, interactive webinars and surveys to understand the current blood cancer landscape in Australia.
