I always wore 13, but if I think about it, 11 is a perfect softball number. On defense, those lines are "nails" -- tough as nails. At the plate, those lines are "sticks". Sticks and nails -- perfect combo. We are 11 days away from opening day. Ready yet? @WHSAthletics234

Ball security reps before we even get rolling. Barehanded work with @heatersports soft lite flites: straight up, drop step left, drop step right, reach backhand. Feel your posture. Secure the ball at the bottom. Athlete: @gselby22 @Kaelyn_Brown1

I’ve collected a few off-season drills over the past few months. This Reel is a solid skills and conditioning workout when done at pace. No ladder? No worries. Mark the 11 one-foot tall, 16” width areas out with tape. More ladder drills are coming. Get ready.

Look up the top 5 softball players of all time, and you'll find many lists. But common among all of them are Jennie Finch, Lisa Fernandez, and Cat Osterman -- all of whom pitched for Team USA and had illustrious NCAA careers. Nothing came easy -- all worked hard -- are you?

32 more days until opening day. We are going to cut this series short and run it for only 1 more day. Then with 30 days left, we will re-post some great drills to do in confined spaces and cold weather to bring us one step closer to being ready for March 9.

A multi-sport athlete, Shirley Topley, excelled in field hockey, basketball, and javelin, having played at the national levels for all three sports. As a softball player, she was a 12-time All American -- a gifted athlete who shared her talents with several top ASA teams.

Dot Richardson is an orthopedic surgeon and 2-time gold medal Olympian. Playing at UCLA, she won the NCAA championship in 1982. She is now the softball coach at Liberty Univ. Dr. Dot is here not only for her talent, but passion, and work ethic. How about you? Started yet?

Day 2 of a 14-Day Series on the Legends of Softball. If you wish to see someone in particular, leave a name in the comments. Otherwise tomorrow we have Dr. Dot Richardson. In the meantime, yes it is cold, but what are you doing to get ready for March 9?

No winners on day 37, but the runner on 2 is out for getting hit with the batted ball, and the batter is awarded first base. The new series starts today. The first 14 days are planned, but if you wish to nominate someone for inclusion, we can always shuffle the line-up.

Day 7 of 7! No winners Day 38: 1 out, runner on 3rd tags on a fly ball to left. LF sprints to the foul line and makes a fantastic catch of a foul ball, but her momentum carries her into the dead-ball area. Ruling: Batter is out, runner scores automatically. Try today's!

Day 6 of 7 - easy one today! No winners yesterday. 1 out and a runner on 1, the batter hits ball to left that just drops in. The runner on 1 hesitates to see if the ball is caught. The batter-runner rounds 1st and passes the runner. The batter-runner is out for passing a runner.

No winners yesterday! If a pitched ball bounces in front of the plate and hits the batter, who is entirely within the batter’s box, it is considered a hit by pitch. Take your base! Today marks the 5th day in our 7-day series. Can you get this one? A new series starts Sunday.

No winner Day 41: 1 out, runner on 1st, batter hits 1) a pop-fly, or 2) a liner that the 2nd baseman intentionally drops. Whereas it's a heads-up play, a fielder cannot intentionally drop a ball to turn a DP. The batter is out, and the runner returns to 1st. Try again today!

Yesterday's question had no correct answers: With runners on 1st and 2nd, a bunted ball is popped up to the infield but is not caught. Is this an automatic out on an infield fly? NO. A bunt is never considered an infield fly. Any takers for today's question?

2 strikes, 2 outs, runner on 3: Batter sees 3rd baseman back on the bag and attempts a bunt down the line, which 1) goes foul, or 2) is caught by the 3rd baseman. What is the ruling in both cases? Post your answer -- have some fun! We'll post the answers tomorrow with another Q.
