@SHEPSHEPPU I don't disagree with you on that point. I think Japan being close to 50% on Nyaa is a bit ridiculous. I just think OP's screenshots with Chinese subs is BS.
English

@WalmartZW still my point stands.
why would japanese need a sub copy or chinese copy?
If the access are mostly from Japan the newest files should be more Japanese oriented.
Im not denying there arent any Japanese pirates.
English

@SHEPSHEPPU Are those Chinese subs? That's what OP was claiming.
English

@WalmartZW Here is a screenshot of the current most seeded files on nyaa. Its all subs. we dont need those. oh, you wanna see the most downloaded files? subbed too!
dumbass like you should just stay quiet

English

@YUKARING1222 For the record, I am not saying that all Japanese people pirate. I think the Nyaa percentages are a bit sus. But I also don't think there is zero piracy either. (Fines =/= Enforcement) And the "proof" given with the 4 random screenshots is just total BS.
English

@YUKARING1222 Most filenames are not in Chinese, the guy cherry-picked a page sorted by upload date, not by downloads. Here, I searched for the same thing as the original screenshot, but I clicked the "sort by number of downloads" on the right. Now, it's all Japanese. Not even English.

@AxelLyl27 @bhive003 I guess so, but Darkness outside of her masochistic tendencies is a very normal person. I can't really see her line of thought in choosing that name. Hell, she's literally a Crusader that devoutly follows Eris.
English

@WalmartZW @bhive003 Yep, they do. And adults who maintain that stage (I saw many in different video games)
English

@AxelLyl27 @bhive003 Ah nvm, I got it mixed up. But I still don't see how Darkness is a common nickname. Who's naming themselves "Darkness" other than some edgy 14-year-old kid?
English

@WalmartZW @bhive003 Nah, Darkness is very common. Megumin is a little rarer (just a little) because it's just the name Megumi (like the chctr from jjk) with an -n added.
Bro... her lastname is Dustiness... Her name is Lalatina... look it up yourself...
English

@AxelLyl27 @bhive003 Even for a nickname, Darkness is much stranger than Megumin. Hell, they did make fun of her last name "Lalatina", which to me is much more normal than Dustiness. That isn't a surname either, but a first name. Imagine calling your kid that...
English

@WalmartZW @bhive003 Well, Darkness is just a nickname. And Dustiness doesn't seem so crazy to me, knowing that many surnames sometimes originate from places or inanimate elements characteristic of a place.
English

@AxelLyl27 @bhive003 Yeah, it's "Darkness" that's the weird one for me. Or "Dustiness". She's neither "dark" nor dusty... And those names sound like strange insults if anything.
English

@bhive003 Yep. I didn't understand. Aqua's name didn't seem strange to me since she's a goddess.
In fact, none of the Crimson Demons' names seem odd to me. They just seem like any other made-up name, i think.
English

@mikesulsenti Big problem with MPV is that there is no settings GUI. I don't want to tweak text files, but I also want to customize my experience.
I used MPV Manager, and while ModernZ looks great, there is no settings window. MPC-QT takes a good 10 seconds to start up.
English

I don’t /hate/ it
It’s just so bad these days I made a website and a PC app so that people stop using VLC

I like how from this point forward the computer club is treated like the stereotypically antagonistic rival group to the main characters, never acknowledging that they did literally nothing wrong and are in fact pure victims of Haruhi holding a justified grudge.

English

@Richard_Arbor_ @kisaragi_dono @Sheepdoge1 @mightydudbolt Did you watch the same show as the rest of us? You can clearly see in many points that she can be very considerate. And throughout the story, she grows and starts to mellow out.
English

@kisaragi_dono @Sheepdoge1 @WalmartZW @mightydudbolt I'm not sure how unpredictable it is if it's always a different flavor of "she's gonna be an annoying bitch"
English

@Richard_Arbor_ @kisaragi_dono @Sheepdoge1 @mightydudbolt 1. haruhi is not *the* main character, kyon is and he acts as the voice of reason to contrast haruhi
2. if you are older than 14 and not a moralf*gging tourist you should be able to see that unlikeable characters can still be appealing
English

@kisaragi_dono @Sheepdoge1 @WalmartZW @mightydudbolt why do people swear it's such a good anime if you're meant to dislike the main character
English

@ListensDanny @mightydudbolt I am under the impression that Yuki is so good (she literally made an OS for them) that the computer club was willing to do basically whatever just for her to come by. So IDK if I'd call it a compromise. Especially during Editor in Chief, it was no longer a compromise.
English

@WalmartZW @mightydudbolt the compromise came when they knew how toxic things would get if they didn't come up with any compromise, but yeah thanks for reminding me, really liked that chapter
English

@ListensDanny @mightydudbolt in Indignation
When Haruhi asked the computer club to write video game reviews for their literary club column, they readily agreed and were even excited for it. Then Kyon gave the backstory of how much Yuki helped them out and how they are generally on good terms now.
English

@WalmartZW @mightydudbolt Which part of the ln are you referring to, the last thing I remembered from them was having the game programmed so they had the advantage no matter what they did
English

@Richard_Arbor_ @mightydudbolt That's not what happened... After Yuki beat them at their game, they asked if she can come by and occasionally help them with programming and all that. She ended up being so good (literally wrote an OS for them) that they got on pretty good terms with the brigade.
English

@WalmartZW @mightydudbolt let me guess, the writer realized the protagonists were unequivocally in the wrong so he retroactively added some hidden dirt on the computer club to make it feel fair
English

@andrewpprice @IsThisA3DModel Totally agree. If you're really pro-human, you should recognize and be worried that a ton of people already love "AI slop" and that number is only increasing. Saying "oh well I don't like it so no one will like it" is like plugging your head into the sand type of cope.
English

@IsThisA3DModel No one is disagreeing with you that it has problems.
I'm saying the audience won't care. Especially in 2 years when those problems are vanishingly small.
English

Comments like this sound deranged to anyone outside of the artist sphere. The audience that watches Pixar movies do not care that the hair gets misplaced for 3 frames.
Is this a 3D model?@IsThisA3DModel
no and this is nowhere close to "Pixar-grade"
English

@JasperBoerstra Fair point. This would be an issue in the short run (which does not diminish the problem at all BTW). But in the long run, people will naturally go to the thing that doesn't use the machine. It'll hurt the bottom line and corporations will adjust.
English

@WalmartZW Have no doubt artists understand, but non-artists don't and that is the problem, because they got the money and they're going to tell you to change your art because the thinking machine model said that if you add more saturated red to your scene it'll score higher and you comply

Today we're introducing TRIBE v2 (Trimodal Brain Encoder), a foundation model trained to predict how the human brain responds to almost any sight or sound. Building on our Algonauts 2025 award-winning architecture, TRIBE v2 draws on 500+ hours of fMRI recordings from 700+ people to create a digital twin of neural activity and enable zero-shot predictions for new subjects, languages, and tasks.
