Talked with several software engineers who are shocked, confused & angry that either their company, or their friends’ companies are laying off. These are the “hot” VC-funded companies, considered cooler than eg Google.
One common theme: they’ve never seen a downturn like this.

That said, these adjustments are meeting with shock & surprise when it comes to the employee base, particularly those employees in the Bay Area. During this rate induced boom, competition for employees created a Disney-esque set of experiences/expectations in high tech companies.

@lessantman The main reason that I am a "card carrying" Libertarian is the concept that arbitrary borders, immigration laws, and the like are total nonsense. Everyone should be able to go, live, do whatever they want (within your concept of reason) wherever they like.
