I’m pretty sure this movie was making fun of Viking morality. He goes on a revenge quest of the man who killed his father but it turns out now that man is just a broke farmer (I wonder who wins warrior in prime or elderly) and his mom wasn’t a captive but willing participant. In other words those masculine virtues of avenging are all silly machismo and everyone is happier without your defense of family.
