The keynote speaker for the 18th Annual Black Futures Graduation Celebration was GECDSB graduate, Petra Owusu, who attended this same event in 2013. She described it as "a full circle moment." Petra is a graduate of Walkerville Collegiate Institute and is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in the School and Applied Psychology program at Western University. She is also a Black youth mental health advocate. Petra aspires to become a school and clinical child psychologist. Her powerful message to students touched on topics such as the importance of making good decisions, having a mentor, overcoming adversity, knowing one's history, and taking care of one's mental health. Everyone present was very inspired. 🌟🎓
