@generalequilib @jm_mcgrath The problem with Bradford is who knows what you'll actually get. The offering seems to shift with the slightest breeze... I do think he has capacity, he's not an idiot, I just don't trust him to act in the interests of the City over the interests of his own political ambitions.

@generalequilib @jm_mcgrath Again, I won't argue that there is questionable spending, across all munis, and I won't argue that there isn't poor project management, either. But Bradford isn't going to magically materialize a massive expansion of capital project capacity at no cost to the taxpayers.

@generalequilib @jm_mcgrath I think that is a VERY excellent question that should be taken to local councillors and the mayor. I think failure to deliver on approved capital plans is an issue impacting many municipalities. None of this addresses the budget gap.

@generalequilib @jm_mcgrath FAFO. Toronto is one city with MASSIVE capital obligations. "Well we used to do it this way decades ago" doesn't fix the billions in capital budget gaps across hundreds of municipalities created by that move. But lemme know how it's going in a decade, if you don't mind.

@generalequilib @jm_mcgrath No one wants to pay for anything. This is just a game of musical chairs. If upper levels refuse to fund municipalities while they cut and waste their own revenues, municipalities either jack up property taxes to cover or growth stops.
