@CPhilly19 So, the pitcher missed his spot badly. Shouldn’t be a strike in your opinion. So, if a hitter pulls an outside pitch, goes oppo with an inside pitch, does not go middle with middle, etc, this should be recorded as an out them; because, the ball was not hit where it was pitched?

It’s more the pitchers shouldn’t be rewarded for missing across the zone with a dogshit lollipop curveball that barely catches the top corner of an already expanded zone discourse. It’s the same discourse that explains why catchers have been able to set up a few inches off the plate and steal strikes when a pitcher can consistently hit that spot, rewarding them for doing so. As I followed up the OG post, if we’re doing rid of the nuances of the game that have made baseball what it’s been since it was invented, let’s just rip off the band aid and go fully automated. That’s where we’re very obviously headed either way.
