My boss just sent me a Slack message that says "hey do you have a sec?" No context. Just the digital equivalent of a tap on the shoulder before an execution. I replied "sure, what's up?" two minutes ago. The little indicator says he's typing. He's been typing for three solid minutes. What could possibly take three minutes to type? Are we restructuring the entire org chart? Am I being fired via a multi-paragraph manifesto? I checked his calendar and he has a meeting with HR at noon. My heart rate is currently higher than it was during my last stress test. He finally hit send. "Do you know how to convert a PDF to a Word doc?" I'm going to bill the company for my future cardiology appointments.

I signed for a package last week.
The delivery guy said, "DiCamillo?"
I said, "Yes."
"Wait," he said. "Did you write Because of
Winn-Dixie?"
"I did."
"Oh, wow," he said. "My third grade teacher read that book to us. I'll never forget it."
And then he smiled at me-this radiant, beautiful smile-and I suddenly saw him as an eight-year old kid, sitting in class, listening to a story.
That man's third-grade teacher is out there somewhere, and I wanted to let her know this: he remembers. He remembers you reading to him.

Ilia Malinin: 15 consecutive wins. The only human to land a quad Axel. So much hype and the spotlight was bright.
But tonight at the moment that mattered most:
8th place
His words: "It was definitely mental."
That's honesty & ownership. And it takes a hell of a lot of courage to say that than to make excuses.
Every Olympics, the "destined" champion faces THIS moment. A decade of prep. One performance. The body is ready - but did anyone prepare the mind for THAT pressure?
The inner game is still the most underutilized edge in sport.
Ilia is only 21. He'll be back & he will face the fire once again. I was cheering for him tonight, and I’ll be there when he comes back again.

Within seconds of learning his 8th place fate — a nightmare unfolding for him — Ilia Malinin congratulated Mikhail Shaidorov.
He’s had to grow up fast in the spotlight. And showed immense class in a crushing moment for him.
