It is with profound sorrow and deep sadness, that I share, one of our deputies took his own life today. Deputy Jeremiah Stewart, 36, worked with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for seven years and is a U.S. Army veteran.
Today, our entire agency is grieving. We lost a member of our HCSO family, and that pain is shared by every deputy and employee. We are lifting up this deputy’s loved ones in prayer and ensuring our deputies have the care, resources and support they need. To anyone who may be struggling, please know there is help and hope. You are not alone.

We’re proud to celebrate district-wide growth in academic achievement with the release of the 2024-2025 school grades!
Not only did we see an overall increase in the number of A and B schools, but two schools even jumped two full letter grades, from a C to an A.
These grades reflect the hard work of our students, teachers, staff, and school communities across the district. Congratulations, HCPS Family! Let’s keep the momentum going!

This week, Middleton High School proudly celebrated the unveiling of its new road sign—a modern communication tool that will keep the community informed and highlight the many achievements and events happening at Middleton.
In attendance for the special occasion were School Board Members Lynn Gray and Shake Washington, Middleton Lifetime Alumni Member Fred Hearns, and Principal Camille Burton. Their presence underscored the importance of this new addition to the campus and the strong support from school leadership and alumni.
The sign symbolizes a continued commitment to excellence, connection, and community pride.
