Many many friends I have are affected by this. We see an incredible amount of talent disappear from the industry to go adjacent industries instead. I think overall, the games industry is in a dire state and needs to grow up. How are you supposed to have and raise a family when every 2 years you are laid off regardless if the game is doing well or not, have to travel to a different countries for the next gig etc. Making games are still, sadly, mostly a hobby for single people who can be exploited for pizza.

I don't think gamers really understand how bad of a state the video game industry is in right now. The Rockstar developer I am interviewing next week has been unemployed for a year, he can't find work and this is someone who worked on L.A. Noire, RDR1, GTA V and RDR2!! Even with an impressive resume he can't even get interviews, I wasn't exaggerating when I said we are in the midst of an extinction level event of talent in the game industry.

I need more videogames about being a wizard. Listen closely: Not general RPGs where being a wizard is one of several options. I need more games where being a wizard is the central premise. I want the process of learning magic to actually feel like learning magic.
