Bend over Wellington rate payers. The top Maori official Chief Maori Officer, Karepa Wall takes home $280 000 a year, $78,000+ more than Andrew Little. This situation raises many questions: What does he do for his generous salary? How many staff does he have and do they all have some Maori blood? Are there Chief Officers for other ethnic groups such as Samoans, Tongans, Chinese, Indians etc … On what basis does the Wellington City Council justify having a Chief Maori Officer and his staff?

There was a time when technical expertise was enough. Today, some corporate recruitment material increasingly reads less like a job advertisement and more like a statement of institutional identity. The concern is not cultural language itself. The concern is when companies selling essential services appear more focused on signalling internal values than explaining the practical work they exist to deliver.

New Zealanders need affordable power, not corporate performance. The Meridian job advertisement reflects a wider institutional culture where symbolic language and internal signalling increasingly dominate communications. Customers are entitled to ask whether that energy might be better directed toward delivering lower costs and better outcomes.

NRL star Sione Katoa reveals why he refuses to get the flu shot - and says he won't let any of his three young kids be vaccinated. “I’ve had a few people contact me and ask why I declined the flu shot and wanted to share my reasons behind it, particularly now with one of our closest mates and teammate Brian being stood down. Lately I’ve seen journalists, reporters and mainstream media creating a divide between the community, the fans and the NRL by constantly shaming and bullying NRL players and their families who stand for freedom of choice. We acknowledge that the flu shot has the ability to result in serious adverse reactions and has also claimed lives. In 2018, the step father of a friend sadly passed away within 48 hours of his flu shot. He was an adult man, with no underlying health conditions. What if this were to happen to our family, or yours? Why are people so quick to advocate for “herd immunity” and not acknowledge vaccine injury/death? There are plenty of families within the NRL alone that suffer from vaccine injury. We used to be very pro-vaxx and judged those who chose not to vaccinate. Those judgements quickly passed as soon as vaccines caused health issues for our eldest son, Chase. He was constantly sick after his shots, resulting in many trips to the hospital and doctors office. Our son was helpless and never getting any better, so we reached out for a second opinion which lead us down the path of holistic health. After seeking advice from medical professionals and seeing the positive impact that it had on our sons health, we made the informed decision to no longer vaccinate ourselves or our children. Our friends and family who vaccinate themselves and their children respect and understand our decision with vaccination. And we respect theirs. No, they aren’t scared to be around us, our kids play with theirs and we can also have open conversations about vaccines without judgement and that’s how it should be. We stand for FREEDOM OF CHOICE and what we choose should not be made a public matter and cause outrage in the media and community. Everyone should be entitled to choose what they do, or do not inject into their body because WHEN THERE IS RISK THERE MUST BE CHOICE.”

This morning Stanford admitted that they’ve abandoned the previous social media ban bill in favour of a system, with support from Labour that goes ‘FURTHER’ and will be a : ‘UNIVERSAL AGE VERIFICATION’ model - which means everyone who uses the internet will have a digital ID that will be verified and all your activity tracked. National will be attempting to implement the EU system which could only originate from the Orwellian mess that the UK and Europe has become. Incoming spin from National for their digital overeach mechanism for the next 6 months. Wipe them out at the election.
Holyhekatuiteka@2ETEKA

🚩Book mark this post : This will soon be announced. Yesterday National said they are pausing the (Labour supported) bill for social media age restrictions - FOR NOW, Luxon has promised to push through the law before the election. The reason for the delay ? Well It’s going to be beefed up, made broader to take on full Orwellian proportions. Originally Nationals legislation was based on the Australian system, which has proven to do absolutely nothing to ‘protect kids’, as it isn’t technologically intrusive enough to replace parenting - which is what Govts around the world want. NZ’s own e-Karen Catherine Wedd (Tuki Tuki seat where Tane Randell will stand) & Erica Stanford confirmed yesterday ‘a more wide ranging solution’ will be implemented. Very soon National will announce that they will adopt the EU Age assurance platform instead, which is unashamedly and indisputably - digital ID. 🚨 (EUDI / eIDAS 2.0): The app is a lightweight “mini-wallet” using the exact same technical standards as the full EU Digital Identity Wallets. 🚨The key tool is the EU Age Verification App (also called the “mini wallet”) rollout across the EU by the end of 2026. Everyone will be given a national digital ID wallet, which will be used for their central bank digital currency. 🚨All Platforms (social media, YouTube-style sites, etc.) will be required to block or limit access based on ID verification/assurance. Every single user of the internet will be required to be verified, your phone will become the ultimate digital checkpoint. 🚨The system is designed to be seamless and cross-border operation 🚨The system is built to integrate directly with (and accelerate adoption of ) the full EU Digital Identity Wallets, which will hold not just age but passports, driving licences, education quals, bank details - credit /financial history, travel and movement details, and digital health records. 🚨The initial credential issuance is government-linked, which creates a single point of reliance on state-issued digital ID for everyday internet use, banking, payments, transactions - EVERYTHING. 🚨End of practical anonymity online Social media accounts would effectively require government-ID linkage, this will then extend to all facets of modern society. 🚨Surveillance creep / normalisation: Once the wallet infrastructure exists, platforms & govts will pressure for more attributes over time. 🚨Security issues with the system are many and varied. The system has already proven to be easily hacked, meaning your entire life can essentially be stolen. Despite multiple security ‘patches’ said to address these concerns, independent assessments found the security of the system to be completely “superficial” The Trojan horse of a social media age restriction - embeds government-backed digital ID (and hence control) deeply into every part of your life. Just another reason why Pauline Hanson, Nigel Farage (who are totally opposed to digital ID) are topping the polls in the UK and Australia in a historical political watershed moment. Watch this clip

It has been reported that police have recently visited Renee-Rose Schwenke about a so-called 'offensive' social media post she posted. Not threatening, not inciting violence, just that it allegedly offended someone. If this report is true, this is '1984 thought-police' level overreach. It should seriously frighten every New Zealander who believes in freedom of speech. This is not about whether this particular post was offensive or not. There will always be personal responsibility and consequences for people voicing their opinions that are viewed by some as tasteless or gormless or offensive - but those consequences should not be by way of a police visit. No one has the right to not be offended, nor do they have the right to be protected from having hurt feelings. In fact it is precisely the right to be able to offend which is the foundation of freedom of speech in our country. This has happened overseas with more regularity where social media posts, opinions, views, expressions, and even jokes are now deemed offensive by some authoritarian power and have been met with threats from police, arrests, or even convictions in court. We never thought we would see this happen here and it has a chilling effect on where we are going as a country. As Oliver Wendall Homles Jr said, freedom of speech also comes with responsibility of speech - you cannot falsely yell 'fire' in a crowded theatre without there rightly being a consequence. We already have laws around 'responsibility of speech' ranging from defamation to incitement of violence, and that is important - but people's freedom to have their own free opinion is something which should be aggressively defended. We don't all have to agree with each other's opinions, but we should all fight for each other's right to have them. This is the essential foundation of our free democracy. If we start to accept this kind of overreach by police to curtail individual freedom of speech, our democracy will fall into the type of totalitarian oblivion that will destroy our country.

Breakthrough lab research reveals that cannabis compounds, including THC, can help clear toxic Alzheimer's-related proteins from brain cells. In groundbreaking studies from the Salk Institute and Scripps Research Institute, scientists have demonstrated that tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and other cannabinoids show strong potential to address key drivers of Alzheimer's disease. When tested on human neuronal cell cultures, these compounds activated the brain's endocannabinoid system to: - Promote the removal of toxic amyloid-beta proteins — the sticky molecules that clump into plaques and spark chronic brain inflammation. - Reduce the activity of enzymes (such as β-secretase and γ-secretase) that produce more amyloid-beta, thereby slowing plaque buildup. - Protect neurons from inflammation-induced damage and oxidative stress. The findings suggest that cannabinoids may offer neuroprotective effects by enhancing the brain's natural cleanup mechanisms and dampening harmful inflammatory responses — two central processes in Alzheimer's progression. Importantly, the results come from in vitro (cell-based) experiments and animal models; no large-scale human clinical trials have yet confirmed these effects in people living with Alzheimer's or other dementias. Experts stress that while the work is promising and opens exciting avenues for future drug development, cannabis is not currently proven to prevent, treat, cure, or reverse Alzheimer's disease. This early-stage research provides a compelling scientific foundation for exploring cannabinoid-based therapies — potentially combining THC and CBD — as part of a broader strategy to combat neurodegenerative decline.
