Every day you are stuck in that tiny cage is one less day we get to have with you. And it breaks my heart. Every day someone chooses not to do the right thing is another day you suffer and think we’ve just abandoned you. Every day we have to keep fighting and speaking out against this injustice is one more day someone could have simply chosen to end it. This has gone on far too long. Friends, please, please, please. We woke up to a war online, and this is NOT what we’re about. We have never wanted to expose or destroy our neighbors, and while we knew the truth would eventually reveal itself, we MUST let Jesus take this. We do not need to heap the coals ourselves. We need to know where to put our efforts. And as far as the DA goes, please, I beg you—for the sake of Lucy—be kind. As my husband’s message has been through this entire #savelucy movement, SHOW GRACE. We do not answer suffering with more suffering. “Do not repay evil for evil or insult for insult, but on the contrary, repay evil with blessing.” — 1 Peter 3:9 As Veterans, especially on Memorial Day, my husband and I know deeply what real suffering and sacrifice in this world look like. It is our responsibility to be peacemakers wherever we can. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” — Matthew 5:9 This does NOT mean we stop fighting for justice. It does NOT mean we stop speaking truth. But we must stay focused on the goal: bringing our sweet girl Lucy home. That is the prize. Everything else will be dealt with strategically and with wise counsel. We want Lucy back. We want protection for our family. We want to become a resource so this never happens to another family again. Friends, be warriors today. Be brave. But be discerning and USE YOUR WORDS WISELY. Sometimes the loudest and most effective thing you can do is stand down… and LET GOD fight the battle. Your support, your prayers, your encouragement, and your financial contributions for the long legal battles ahead have already been more powerful than any tossed stone ever could be. Public reports and advocacy (including from Tomi Lahren, Law Enforcement Today, National Police Association, and thousands on social media) accuse her of actively pushing for Lucy’s destruction rather than exercising leniency for a senior dog with no serious bite history and a military familLucy (an 11-year-old dog rescued by U.S. Army veteran Brendan Jones from a war zone) is still alive and being held at the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter. She was seized after a neighbor complaint involving barking while leashed, tied to an earlier “dangerous dog” designation from a minor nip during post-surgery recovery (when she was medicated and coned). The case is ongoing. Brendan Jones faces a misdemeanor charge for failure to fully comply with dangerous dog registry requirements (muzzling, insurance, etc.).
