🏏 Cricket season is here! Before your first match, check your changing room water systems. Dormant showers and taps over winter = legionella risk. Flushing is essential before opening your pavilion. Make sure you’re not on a sticky wicket when it comes to complying with water regulations / byelaws. Visit waterregsuk.co.uk for guidance. And when checking your cold water storage cisterns, don’t forget – these shouldn't be removed without talking to your local water undertaker (not necessarily your supplier) first, as they might be providing essential backflow protection. Check out our guidance for more information: tinyurl.com/bdddkarb

💧 “March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers” So says this old British proverb. Wet weather at this time of year is a good reminder to pay attention to the way you collect and store rainwater, which can contain pollutants, making it a contamination risk. Implementing and using alternative water systems such as rainwater harvesting means there are important regulations/byelaws to follow to keep water safe. Happy Community Garden Week! 🌱 This week we're celebrating all the amazing community gardeners across the UK who grow food, create green spaces and bring people together. If you're out watering plants, filling buckets or hosing down tools this week, here's a friendly reminder about water safety: Hose union taps (taps where hoses connect) are considered high contamination risks. When a hosepipe is submerged in a bucket, pond, water butt or drain, it can cause backflow, which could affect the drinking water supply. Find out more about managing hose connections safely: tinyurl.com/2p6y9rr6 Happy gardening! 🌻
