The collapse of an entire cabinet is not an isolated event. It is the latest sign of a government that is unstable, and increasingly unpopular. In the middle of a national fiscal crisis, at one of the most uncertain moments in global affairs, Maldives cannot afford this. I call on President @MMuizzu to bring all parties together in the national interest to address the economic and governance crises facing the Maldives.

There have been ongoing cases where employees are being forced to resign from One&Only Reethi Rah Maldives , @OOResorts due to so called “renovation” plans. Forcing staff to resign under these circumstances is unacceptable, especially given the current economic challenges and the impact of the ongoing war. Luxury resorts are already recovering, with strong occupancy rates and the return of high-paying guests. Despite this, employees are being pressured into resignation, leaving them with no real choice. The HR department appears to be systematically carrying out this process by calling in staff individually and forcing two to four employees to resign each day through one-on-one meetings. I strongly urge the relevant authorities in the Maldives to investigate this matter immediately, uphold justice, and protect the employment rights of these workers.
