The City of Wheeling and the State of West Virginia deserve a representative who can serve with complete focus and full commitment. I hold myself to a high standard and believe in being fully invested in whatever I pursue. I also believe in being honest and transparent no matter what. After thoughtful reflection, I recognize that I cannot give this race the level of time, energy, and dedication I thought I would be able to when I filed to run. My passion and long-term purpose are centered on helping others live healthier, stronger lives through my business and continued education. I believe that by concentrating my efforts there, I can make the greatest positive impact on the people in our community. While my name will remain on the ballot, I will not be actively pursuing this nomination. I am grateful for the support I’ve received and will continue working to contribute to our city and state through my work in health and fitness. — Riley Watkins

Health is a Bipartisan issue. Republicans, Democrats, and independents all want to be healthy, live longer, and improve their quality of life. Our current obesity rate is 45%. 70% of our state is overweight. The #1 killer of our citizens is HEART DISEASE. Theoretically, If we cut that to 0%, our citizens would live 10-20 years longer, save THOUSANDS on medical costs due to poor health (medical expenses are the #1 cause of bankruptcy), and have more energy towards their work! I believe getting our citizens healthy comes from lowering costs, because if you can't pay your bills its hard to focus on working out, promoting real nutrition education in our schools, and putting locally grown healthy food from places like Public market so that everyone in our community can enjoy great food while supporting local farmers.
