Parent rights law is not needed.Inform the schoolwhat you do not want taught to your child. Your decision cannot impact other students because their parents have the same right. Elected Local & State Boards are the only ones who make decisions for all students.

Many legislators believe in full transparency for public schools. I agree. If public funding is provided to private schools, they should have to meet standards required of public schools including transparency as well as any laws, rules, or regulations required by public schools.

Today i attended my last board meeting. It has been a privilege & honor to represent District 1 for the last 24 years. I asked the board to ensure “”each” student continues to receive the best education possible. I may no longer have a vote but I will still have a voice.

Congratulations to the Kansas School for the Deaf who were awarded a $10,000 grant from Code.org for computer science. Only 2 schools in each state received this award. I am so proud!

Visited Grant Elem. in KCK USD 500 with our Commissioner, Dr. Randy Watson. He read to all the Kindergarters & 1st graders. It was such fun to be with the students & staff. I really missed this during Covid. FYI my favorite was “Aliens Steal Your Underpants”. Great day!!

This afternoon I had the honor to attend the Governor Scholars presentation recognizing the top 1% of Ks. high school graduates for the first time in person in two years.Each student had their picture taken with theGovernor. Excited students,proud families&supporters, Great day!

Tuesday I had the honor to present Challenge Awards to seven schools in KCK USD 500 - Arrowhead Middle, Bertram Caruthers Elem., Emerson Elem., John Fiske Elem., Mark Twain Elem., Sumner Academy of Arts & Sciences & Thomas A. Edison Elem. So proud of each school. Congratulations!
