Here’s why I’m refusing to pay the new UK EV tax. I paid £20k in tax to purchase it. I pay £500 a year “luxury vehicle tax”. I pay £250 a year road tax. I pay 20% tax on the energy it uses (the most expensive in the world). I pay 20% tax on the mandatory insurance. This is after the man takes 55% of my earnings (including National Insurance). I will not pay more tax just because I’m not using petrol or diesel.
