And by 6 votes to 5, the REFUSAL motion but forward by Lib Dem Opposition Cllr Penny Rivers is carried. Huge result for Waverley, @WaverleyBC and the campaign to stop this. A very close call though. Thankfully this committee had good opposition councillors.

Not sure getting “Tight Oil” out of the Weald basin is going to be cheaper or reduce the eco footprint? When it costs 4 million just to Drill one hole and you need a drill pad every 2 miles. How much fuel will be used to build the drill pad, run it and transport waste and oil?

@flexiparkins Millions of barrels that won’t flow out of one well that’s why they are trying to get more wells, more wells more cost and it’s still a lottery to get them flowing! 22 million on drilling wells and only one trickling well so far 😬🤔

@flexiparkins As for the 6% that will only flow if and when the well becomes commercial viable and makes a profit! Even then it will go to SCC so will be doubtful to benefit the local area, again a point Mr S agreed when questioned on the point! He also agreed it’s a mute point at this stage!
