@jonathanhandler @GlamSlam72 Well, I've just produced a refreshed new version of Mauve shoes done by my girlie troupe, Evette and the Wavettes, on my new Cd where the girlies refresh some of my back catalogue. Send me an email address on DM and I'll send the track and some others if you like!

📅 April 2, 1974 Mott the Hoople’s swaggering anthem “The Golden Age of Rock ’n’ Roll” / “Rest In Peace” was released as a 7-inch vinyl single on Columbia Records in the US. Written by Ian Hunter, the track became one of the band’s defining mid-’70s glam rock anthems — a theatrical celebration of rock ’n’ roll. Live, Hunter famously introduced it by singing the opening verse of Don McLean’s “American Pie,” then declaring: “Or did it? Ladies and gentlemen, The Golden Age of Rock ’n’ Roll!” before the band kicked in. The single reached No. 16 on the UK Singles Chart. #MottTheHoople #IanHunter #TheGoldenAgeOfRockNRoll #OnThisDay #1974 #GlamRock #ColumbiaRecords

@GlamSlam72 Joan Jett had 23 rejection letters out of 23 labels when first seeking industry interest and a record a deal. Here's but one. Of the 5 songs on the demo 4 went on to become top 20 hits. What do A&R men know, eh? Rock on, sis!

@goalkeepersdiff Willie passed away only recently. He was good goalie and I don't ever recall him letting the Toon down once. I used to collect tthe thrown bog rolls he kicked away from his goal area as trophys. Aye, those were the days..

Back in the day, Fleet Street used to send photographers to games and the editors would pick the best for the Sunday newspapers. Not necessarily players celebrating goals but images that capture the moment. This photo of Newcastle's Willie McFaul at Highbury back in 1969 was one.

🔘 The First Step – Album: March 21 1970 The Faces’ raw, loose, and swaggering debut — a new beginning built from familiar fire. 🔘 Overview The First Step marked the official debut of Faces, formed from three former Small Faces members — Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan, and Kenney Jones — joined by guitarist Ronnie Wood and vocalist Rod Stewart. Released in March 1970, the album captured a band in transition: newly assembled, still defining its identity, and leaning into a heavier, roots‑driven sound that contrasted sharply with the Small Faces’ mod‑pop precision. Recorded during a period of creative recalibration, the album showcased the group’s democratic songwriting approach, with all but one track written internally. Its loose, jam‑friendly feel, blues influences, and ragged charm set the template for the band’s future work. The Dylan cover “Wicked Messenger” opened the album with a stark, stripped‑down energy, while originals like “Flying,” “Stone,” and “Three Button Hand Me Down” hinted at the swaggering rock‑and‑roll personality that would soon define Faces. 🔘 Track List Side One •Wicked Messenger — Dylan
 •Devotion — Lane
•Shake, Shudder, Shiver — Wood, Lane
 •Stone — Lane
•Around the Plynth — Stewart, Wood
Side Two •Flying — Stewart, Wood, Lane
•Pineapple and the Monkey — Wood
 •Nobody Knows — Wood, Lane
•Looking Out the Window — Jones, McLagan
Though not a major commercial breakthrough, The First Step established the group’s chemistry and laid the groundwork for their more confident later releases. Contemporary reviews noted the heavier sound, the experimental textures, and the band’s willingness to push beyond their Small Faces legacy.

📰 Quaffing a Few with Rod Stewart – 3 Pages: Rod Stewart Writer: Richard Cromelin / CREEM Magazine Date: March, 1978 (Spring Issue) A swaggering, boozy, late‑70s portrait of Rod Stewart — half rock god, half footballer, all charisma — captured in a CREEM feature that blends humor, candor, and the chaotic charm of a man who lived his life at full tilt. A day in the studio, a night on the town, and a pint‑soaked confessional with rock’s cheekiest rooster. Richard Cromelin’s Spring ’78 feature finds Rod Stewart in rare form: loose, unfiltered, and gleefully reflective. Between drinks, football kicks, and bursts of laughter, Stewart recounts the end of the Faces, the birth of his new band, and the strange, exhilarating freedom of life after chaos.

@sproutsfan @GlamSlam72 Bowie's tickets 4 his first City hall gig only £1.50! Once both Cockney Rebel & Roxy did 2 shows each in the same week. In those days you had to queue/turn up to buy tickets. I always queued 30 hours in advance for the Faces - honest! - & was always behind the same old 4 people!
