Just two weeks after my accident onstage I want to assure my many well-wishers that the injuries (to wrist and neck) are on the mend. My doctors promise a complete recovery -but only if I avoid work over the next few weeks. Meanwhile the show goes on and the Player Kings company start their four weeks’ tour  without me. My understudy David Semark, who with panache took over for the final performances at the Noël Coward Theatre in the West End of London, will play Falstaff again in Bristol, Birmingham, Norwich and Newcastle. Any actor will say that missing a performance feels somewhat shameful, even when he is not to blame. None of us ever wants to let down our audience. But Robert Icke’s masterful production remains intact. His mis en scene is compelling throughout and his actors, led by Toheeb Jimho and Richard Coyle as Prince Hal and his father, remain on top form. Go see for yourself!

Another article on listening intervention. Reference to developmental stages of attention & listening which is based on neuronormative stages of development. "Teacher was responsible for reinforcing listening rules". Results showed children learned what "good listening means".

Re #autism interventions and use of social media. "well-evidence interventions are dismissed" What are these evidenced interventions? If it's referring to social skills training & attention building programmes, the evidence is weak. @RCSLT

@jobrackley You are right @jobrackley We don’t give people time and opportunities to go over the training material with a trainer again. Often lots of repeated opportunities are needed to even partially master skills and knowledge.

I don’t think we train enough or at the right time. We bombard new staff with everything and expect them to understand, retain and apply, training would be better as practice leadership in situations when you need that information

@Spectrum0Gaming Such a powerful webinar. I work in healthcare and it is so frustrating to see how health, education and social care are disjointed but also similar. All it really takes is to see and listen to the person in the centre of everything, whether it is a patient or a school student.

There were 2,395 (*) autistic people and people with learning disabilities in psych units at the end of March 2015. The NHSE Long term Plan said that number should reduce by 50% by March 2024. Today NHSE reported that there were 2,045 people in those units. You’ve got a lot to do in the next few days @mariacaulfield @ClaireCNWL Wasted Lives….and no accountability. * as far as we can see but they keep tweaking the numbers so who knows?

I am struggling to recruit participants. I am looking to discuss with occupational therapists working with adults with learning disabilities. I would really like to discuss with any occupational therapists who have tried to do this work or discuss the barriers of doing this work.

Struck today by how little professionals trust each other. There is so much starting again and so little continuity

Sadly, we have had to close applications for this service in less than 24 hours because we've had 7 times the number of applications that we have places. Grant funders, this is the level of unmet need. National and local government, this is the level of unmet need.
