Bridgegate have celebrated an incredible week by baking themselves some cakes 🧁 This week three of our residents have successfully completed their detoxes! 🥳🎉

This weekend, residents from Railway Recovery Home enjoyed a fun trip to the driving range for a round of golf. It was a fantastic opportunity to get outdoors, unwind, and learn a new sport. We had a great time together, sharing laughs, and making new memories.

How awesome do our cleaning team look in their new kit! Each resident spends time volunteering with our cleaning team where they learn essential skills such as time-keeping, teamwork, and communication.

Our detox and recovery homes have had great days out today. Bridgegate went bowling (and for a bit of a dance). The competition was fierce but we had a great time together. 🎳🕺 The Railway went to Awesome Walls Climbing Centre where they learned a new skill. 🧗

We would like to say a big thank you to @afblife who have generously donated vouchers for us to spend on treats for our residents during our scheduled activities. An extra thank you goes to Forsbrook Spar who let us clear their shelves of sweets and biscuits! 🍭🍪

For the men in our detox and recovery homes, learning to prepare healthy, nourishing meals teach budgeting and nutrition so our residents are prepared with skills, inspiration, and a repertoire of recipes for their future.

Do you want to build a snowman? ❄️ Some of our residents had fun in the snow. We often talk in our mindfulness group about healing the inner child, and the importance of leaving room for fun and play in recovery. It's great to see our residents putting this into practice ☃️⛄️

One of our core values is Servanthood, which means getting stuck in, offer to help, and never see any job as beneath you. Last week our COO Karen made the team a wonderful sweet potato soup with crispy croutons and cheese on toast! 🥣

Something pretty awesome happened last week, Tom passed his driving test!! 🚗 All of us at Walk are so proud of Tom and the progress he has made in his journey.

It was great to welcome BBC Radio Stoke to speak to our residents as part of their Drug & Alcohol rehabilitation week. The aim is to share positive stories from people in recovery and make people in need aware of the help that is out there. Listen in from 10am tomorrow.

Matty has started a voluntary placement teaching other residents to cook cost effective and healthy meals as they move into supported houses. Yesterday, he taught two men to cook a traditional British 'Toad in the Hole'. They managed to create this dish for only £1 per portion.

As tomorrow brings a new month we reflect on just some of the things we got up to in August! We have an exciting month ahead of us…

Happy Bank Holiday! We hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. Today our residents in the Railway will be spending time at Rudyard Lake where they help the amazing team maintain the beautiful landscape.

Today Matty went on a fishing trip 🎣 While they got off to a bit of an interesting start he had a great time and managed to catch a big fish 🐟 Matty is super talented and after foraging in the garden of his shared home, he made some jars of jam which we enjoyed today. 🍓🫐

Our awesome support workers have been volunteering across our detox and recovery homes this weekend. Their lived experience means that they are able to connect with and support the residents in the early stages of their Walk journey. These guys do an incredible job 👏🏼
