Mainland Europe already has a case of Hantavirus resulting from this outbreak, so quarantine has already failed Thank goodness we’re not still in a pandemic of a virus known to cause immune system dysfunction leading to increased susceptibility to other viruses. Oh, we are.

Found an update from Lake County public health on the measles cases. Good job Lake County preventing further exposures. Its unclear if they are household contacts or community contacts, but this is how you stop outbreaks. lakecountyco.gov/781/Measles---…

Three more measles cases reported in colorado today. They appear to be in Lake County, so perhaps are household contacts of the initial case in that county. There is no press release or HAN at this time, so it’s possible there have been no further exposures from these cases.

EVERYONE who has suspected exposure to the Andes Hantavirus patients needs to use #AirFiltersforAirborneDiseases That means: - Filter exhaled air with n95s when near other people or in public spaces - Hepa filters in their homes to reduce risk to housemates, and /1

Colorado has sadly just recorded another pediatric flu death, bringing the total to 8 in this record-setting flu season. We need to continue to fight for mask protection and access to vaccines and clean air to help prevent these tragedies from happening in future years. 2/3

Although the reason I mask in all public indoor spaces is to mitigate my risk of being infected with SARS-CoV-2, regardless of the healthcare available to me, the appalling state of emergency departments in my country really does sharpen my desire to avoid getting seriously ill.

In addition to today’s notice of an additional measles case in lake county, CDPHE reports that measles has been detected in Broomfield wastewater. Broomfield is the site of a recent outbreak tied to cases at Broomfield high school. /1

To sum it all up? The situation remains good overall. However, we continue to add flu hospitalizations to the record breaking season. We're adding ~2x as many weekly admissions than this time last year, with its late flu peak, though we are finally flattening out.

Amazing thread! And not only are respirator masks good for avoiding the low but catastrophic risk of long covid, they are amazing for avoiding the common cold, wildfire smoke, measles, allergens, and for protecting others. Respirators work! #MaskTogetherColorado
