Invictus Games Foundation 💛🖤

The #InvictusGames Flag will journey around the UK this spring as part of the Full Circle Expedition, carried by members of the Invictus Community. Sailing aboard Spirit of Falmouth and Pellew, the flag will visit 22 ports across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland - representing resilience, recovery and the enduring strength of the Invictus Spirit. Delivered in partnership with Turn to Starboard, the expedition highlights the many pathways to recovery beyond sport, using challenge, teamwork and shared experience at sea to rebuild confidence and purpose. Congratulations to the members of the Invictus Community who competed at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics. Representing Australia, Great Britain, Georgia, Italy and South Korea, these athletes continue to demonstrate the power of sport in recovery and the resilience of our community. From their journeys through the Invictus Games to competing on the Paralympic stage, we are incredibly proud to see them representing their nations and inspiring others around the world. During the Games, our CEO Rob Owen OBE and Deputy CEO Richard Smith CBE attended and met with senior leaders from the International Paralympic Committee to further strengthen our organisations’ relationship and support the continued development of adaptive sport across the globe. It was also fantastic to see members of the Invictus Community represented beyond the field of play, with Steve Arnold, former Invictus Games competitor and Paralympian, providing commentary for Channel 4’s Paralympics coverage.

The #InvictusGames Foundation has awarded funding to wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans in New Zealand to take part in sporting events across the country in 2026. This support will create more opportunities to participate in activities such as running, cycling, and swimming that will help strengthen physical wellbeing, confidence and community connection through sport. "The Invictus Games showed me that I was not alone and gave me the courage to keep challenging myself." – Hwankyung Lee From the #InvictusGames to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics, Hwankyung Lee has used sport to rebuild confidence, find purpose, and push the limits of what’s possible. The Republic of Korea athlete will compete in Para alpine skiing in the men’s giant slalom sitting and men’s slalom sitting events, showing how recovery through sport can lead to the pinnacle of competition. Mattia dal Pastro is currently competing at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics, but his journey to elite winter sport began on the road to the #InvictusGames. Using sport as a tool for recovery, Mattia progressed from competing at the Invictus Games to earning his place on the Paralympic stage in para Nordic skiing. A special message from Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation, for Scott Meenagh ahead of the #MilanoCortina2026 @Paralympics. Scott represented the UK at the inaugural Invictus Games London 2014, and went on to compete again at Orlando 2016 and Toronto 2017. Last night, he had the honour of being selected as Team GB’s flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony. We’re wishing Scott the very best as he begins his Paralympic journey. The final day of the Invictus Games Foundation visit to the Republic of Korea marked the conclusion of our site assessment as part of the bid process to host the #InvictusGames 2029. With the selection decision due in July this year, we met today with the Minister for Patriots and Veteran Affairs Minister Kwon Oh-Eul; the President of the Korean Disabled Veterans Organisation Mr Yoo Ul-Sang; and the Vice Mayor Yoo Deuk-Won. The visit concluded with remarks from CEO Rob Owen OBE, who thanked the bid team for their commitment, professionalism and the detailed planning presented throughout the week.

Today, the Invictus Games Foundation visited Daejeon’s proposed venues for the Invictus Games 2029, assessing their suitability and capacity to play host to the 9th iteration of the Games. Laser Shooting, Esports, Swimming and even a quick round of Park Golf were all part of today’s tour as the delegation explored Daejeon, assessing the city’s plans and readiness in our role as the governing body of the Invictus Games and custodians of the Invictus Spirit.
