These are only the cases that we know of according to police data, unfortunately, there are many more women living in fear in Sunderland. Domestic abuse affects us all and we can all make a difference. It’s time to take action to help create a community free from abuse.

When a loved one appears to be pulling away, our instinct is often to act quickly. This can sometimes be with ultimatums, hoping to regain the contact that’s been lost. For many survivors this can unintentionally leave them feeling more isolated. Instead, open the door. #EndVAWG

Last year, almost 9,000 incidents of domestic abuse were recorded by police in Sunderland – unfortunately the true scale of domestic abuse in Sunderland will be much greater, due to the hidden nature of abuse.
