@RoosterA1A The mountains are directly in our viewing area while the beach is not! If something big is happening on the coast, we certainly try and show it though. 👍

@WeatherBBird Just a question that popped in my head. Why do you guys( I’m mean all the Charlotte stations) always give the mountains forecast but never anything about the beach weather?

There were *NO* tornado warnings in North Carolina during April. Typically, this is one of our busiest months for severe weather. More surprisingly, this is the second year in a row. 2025 also had no tornado warnings in the state. #ncwx @WFMY

A portion of Mecklenburg county is now under an exceptional drought... About 5% of South Carolina has been added to exceptional as well. Not great news!

Well round 1 of rain today was underwhelming... we're not done yet though with afternoon/evening t-storms developing as a front moves in. Hail, damaging winds, and lightning will be the primary concerns so keep an eye out if you're headed to Bruno Mars tonight!

Fire danger is high, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Fires can start almost immediately and easily from all causes. Fires can spread rapidly and intensify quickly. Spot fires can be a constant danger.
