The CIAC is cancelling all remaining winter tournament games.

Weaver struggled early but clinched a postseason bid in the final week of the regular season.

Weaver #ctbb coach Reggie Hatchett on cancellation of state tournament: "They were excited about the possibility of the worst part of their season paying off finally. Now that feeling has been snatched away. For that to come crashing down is a tragedy."

A petition asking the CIAC to continue the winter tournament without spectators already has 12,541 signatures.

Statement regarding today's @ciacsports decision on canceling winter tournaments:

At the middle school & high school level the game is being overtrained & under taught. Basketball is a team game. Players should learn how a team works as a unit on both ends of the floor. Learn how to communicate, be a good teammate & coachable. Let’s start there....
