When you look at Nigeria’s president and his wife, and the way they visibly express excitement (which is usually lacking in their home country, even while in the midst of their supporters) upon visiting white leaders, it reflects the deep-rooted Oyibo worship in Nigeria.
This outing was equally as embarrassing as the time the president’s wife joined Donald Trump in Washington for a prayer summit.
These two had grabbed all the wealth humanly possible for themselves in Nigeria even before becoming the first family, and with every foreign trip, it becomes clearer that the pinnacle of their ambition is to be in a position where they would receive first-hand validation from their colonizers.
This low self-esteem also affects those in the president’s immediate cabinet. Recall how members of his delegation, including the Senate President, were smiling like Christmas goats while riding on horse chariots to Windsor Castle yesterday.
Sad to see.
