Really chuffed to have been shortlisted for Regional Journalist of the Year at the @SportSJA awards for 2025. Local / regional journalism is really important. Covering the last 18 months at Sheffield Wednesday has been a responsibility I and others have taken very seriously. Beats working for a living. UTO.

@Djdimi Not so sure. Watched the replay now. He definitely played for it and made a meal of the challenge.

I’ve got the Ipswich comms on while watching this game, and they’re absolutely convinced that #SWFC are time-wasting and faking injury… They’re not, they’re just knackered, broken and bruised.

@POsgood1867 @AlexJPMiller @YesWeCrann @robstaton Just further to your comment about the scaremongering, it is undeniable that a lot of misinformation has been put out on social media from people with their own agenda which hasn't/doesn't help the club or the admin one bit.

@POsgood1867 @AlexJPMiller @YesWeCrann @robstaton The admin are hardly going to openly question a bidder when the process was still "active" at that point. It isn’t their job to vet the potential bidder beyond the initial checks. At that stage, it was all on the EFL to decide. That said, I'm sure plan B was already being formed.

What a surprise to no one who knows anything about football. Respected journalists have questioned whether the Bord group would succeed and got shot down for saying anything deemed as negative. Sad for everyone connected to the club but i firmly believe other options are better.
Rob Staton@robstaton

An open letter to Sheffield Wednesday fans from the Bord consortium's James Bord, Felix Romer and Abdullah Faisal Bin Jamil #SWFC: To all the long-suffering fans of this great Club, it is with the greatest regret that we have decided not to pursue our bid to become your new custodians. We have fondly watched Wednesday from afar for many years. It is a Club whose glory has been diminished over the years by poor owners who forgot or intentionally disregarded your passion, your history, and your value. You deserved, and deserve, better. When the opportunity came about to be part of your next chapter, we jumped at the chance and in good faith began the process of purchase. We have always engaged professionally, transparently and constructively with the administrator, EFL and IFR via an exceptional team of advisers. Tragically, the historic mishandling of the club and pattern of catastrophic under investment means our sizeable binding bid can no longer be justified. The detailed due diligence our advisers have done over the last two months meant that the sizeable binding bid we made can no longer be justified. As widely reported, we have spent over £4m to help run the Club over the last two months and, after much consideration, have decided that we can no longer continue to do so as the exclusivity agreement we signed means only a small amount could be removed from our offer – regardless of the outcome of our analysis work. We know this will be a bitter disappointment to many – who hoped that the ownership saga would soon be over – and for this we can only apologise wholeheartedly. It is a decision that we have come to after much consideration. We want to make one final point. We are lifelong football supporters who have been privileged to travel around the world watching the sport we love. Never in all our lives have we seen such a passionate fanbase as those who follow Sheffield Wednesday. We hope whoever picks up this baton appreciates you as we would have. We hope they understand the need to invest in your team, your stadium and your community. Just one part of that trio of expectation is not enough. We know the rest of your season is going to be challenging, as will the next, but you will rise again to your former glory and when you do, we will be cheering your success. With best wishes James, Felix and Faisal

@POsgood1867 Agree with the first part of your answer but not the second. The confusion comes from a misunderstanding of how admin works. It’s not the job of the administrator to get the best deal for Sheffield Wednesday. It is their job to legally get the best deal for the creditors.

@WednesdayRob Local lads just doing their job and getting hammered for it! Kris Wigfield has a lot to answer for after his last interview stating the above… The bloke’s coming across more and more of a clown as each day passes!

Has everyone forgotten that we’re still under a transfer embargo until Jan 27. All this talk of you’ll take -15 and still be oreyt. No matter who comes in if we start next year on -15 it’s gonna be a real struggle with the state of our squad and what we’ll be able to add #swfc

@owlsmadmorris @RadioactiveSumo @KieranMaguire Just don’t worry about. All that matters is the club survives. I’m not fussed if we get -15 or not. Just want the right owners and the owls fighting on. The rest is not worth waiting energy on.

@WednesdayRob @RadioactiveSumo @KieranMaguire No, yhe administration process and rules are like any other business. Aside from that the EFL has its own rules which its members agreed to. Not sure Maguire said it would be completely cast aside by legal challenge and legal challenge is really not what we need as a fresh start.

@owlsmadmorris @RadioactiveSumo You keep talking like administration for a football club (which is still a company) is different from any other business. It really isn’t. Yes it’s governed by rules as a member of EFL but if legally tested it is unlikely to hold up. @KieranMaguire alluded to it tonight on radio.

@WednesdayRob @RadioactiveSumo I know, but as a guideline it is there for creditors to refer to and if our main creditor doesn't get his 25% and sees that we aren't being punished as per the guideline do you think he will sit back and accept it?

@owlsmadmorris @RadioactiveSumo It’s a guideline. The whole point it was brought in was to stop bad owners from taking advantage by doing a pre-pack administration to write off some of their worries quick. Each case is judged on its own merits. The ruling on the points deduction has never been legally tested.

@WednesdayRob @RadioactiveSumo It's not a company administration rule, it's an EFL administration rule. Why do the administrators keep mentioning further sanctions then?

@owlsmadmorris @RadioactiveSumo It is. Going into administration guarantees nothing for creditors. The bigger ones will get a percentage just not 25p in the pound if it’s not above £30m. It could be 3p in the pound instead.

@Vancouverowls @RadioactiveSumo @RichardF1990 @WednesdayRob That's what was implied. All debts won't be settled if we don't meet the 25% creditors repayment and if that is how our new owners start then they are unlikely to be accommodating with the transfer ban. Also one creditor will likely challenge if we go unpunished for not repaying.
