@Ranting_Monkey I did need you to clarify that as despite your inclusion of automobile accident injuries, it wasn't immediately obvious to me. So, just to clarify, those other negative health outcomes from giving birth we're talking about, can we agree they are also a sacrifice?

@WeeboJones I thought I made that obvious by pointing out the number of injuries caused in automotive accidents but if it needs saying, yes, giving birth can lead to other negative health outcomes besides death.

You prove my point. They are unwilling to "sacrifice" to have kids. Western women are all brain washed into this garbage. Having kids isn't a biological imperative, it's a punishment to be endured. The propaganda has worked very well.

@Ranting_Monkey As the article puts it: women assessed their options and are unwilling to sacrifice their salary, personal time, and health. This coupled with a worry that partners will not equally share the responsibilities of childcare and household labor.

@Ranting_Monkey Ok, let's say we narrow what we mean by sacrifice in this case to just cover maternal health. Can we agree that sacrificing "maternal health" can cover more than a woman making the ultimate sacrifice of giving her life?

I put quotes around sacrifice to highlight that it's taken directly from your own wording. To your question, no. My position is that every decision can be described as a sacrifice, from life altering choices to mundane daily tasks and that often times when that word is used, it's misused to convey importance that doesn't really exist. If you really like chicken and steak, when the waiter comes and you only order steak, did you sacrifice your love of chicken? It's a choice. Calling it a sacrifice makes it sound more meaningful than it is. Your own listed sacrifices were salary, personal time, and health. Of them, only health might be a meaningful sacrifice, the other two are selfish, which isn't always a bad thing but let's not dress it up. As for health, 2 centuries ago, the maternal mortality rate was about 1% in the US. It's now about .18% with the most current data (2023). 669 women died. There were 3.5 million live births. Giving birth is relatively safe, especially compared to a time when women didn't have a salary to sacrifice. By comparison, 40,000+ people died in auto accidents, 2.4 million were injured. Would you describe driving as a sacrifice? It's in the feminist view that we see this kind of language which is specifically design propaganda to make excuses for women ignoring their biological imperative. "I'm selfish and don't wanna" just doesn't sound as good as "I didn't want to sacrifice my health."

@MarxWasACon @Ranting_Monkey I'm interested in reading the ones which were instrumental in formulating your opinion. If there's such a wealth of studies, I can't guarantee that I'm examining your position in good faith.

Examining claims for validity, especially re-examining them after 10 years; graduating college, entering the work force, buying a house, getting married with all the wisdom and experience that brings, falls within my first interest.

Let me clarify: I do not identify as pro/anti, any sort of ist or ism, nor affiliate with any sort of party. If you believed I did then allow me to dissuade you of such a notion. I'm interested in what is true, living a good life, and doing no harm.

@WeeboJones @Ranting_Monkey Question, what made you switch? I recall you being pretty pro family, anti feminist when I watched your videos, based on this out seems like you're anti family pro feminist now?

@MarxWasACon @Ranting_Monkey Ok fair enough If there are other studies going as far back as the 70s that you're basing your position on, then I would still like to read up on them so that I can understand where your position is coming from.

@WeeboJones @Ranting_Monkey Don't get me wrong, there are people who don't have the normal family drive and they would be less happy with a family, but they are a minority. And the push across all is marxist in origin, with the desire to destroy society.

@MarxWasACon @Ranting_Monkey Forgive me, my response was too long for the character limit, so have a note: TLDR: the data, as it has been reported, is not comprehensive enough that I can comfortably grant it as credible on the matter of happiness in married and unmarried women with or without family.

@WeeboJones @Ranting_Monkey Yes. Data shows on average woman are less happy when they forgo from having a family for a career. I also have my issues with the uneven house work idea, but no data, just anecdotal things.

American Resident here! Getting my mauled face sewn back together took 12 hours and a transfer to another hospital to see a doctor My appendectomy took 8 hours. But in that case, I did see the doctor after 2 hours. Both were in the US and both times I went to the ER

This is crazy A resident of Canada has a swollen appendix so was sent to the emergency room She shows the wait time screen…. It’s over 15 hours to see a doctor. She says she’s already been waiting 3 hours. So that’s 18 hours This is the Universal Healthcare system in Canada
