It’s crazy the amount of people that underestimate off the ball work rate from forwards. With a lazy forward line your entire structure is impacted negatively, opponent build up play from the back into the midfield easier, they create numerical advantages in other areas of the pitch. Your midfielders are more tired because they cover more ground to make up for the lazy bums and when they’re tired they are less effective overall. Your full backs beg for their lives because they’re getting 2v1ed with no help in sight. Not to mention the fact that when others notice the lazy bums being a lazy bums they might resent them and work less in turn because they’re asking themselves why do they get to walk while everyone else runs. In exceptional cases like older Messi or Ronaldo this could work, but we don’t have a player of that caliber around anymore and usually only one of them walked around while everyone else pitched in. You can like a player without pretending that everything about them is perfect ya know.
