People haven’t correctly adjusted to inflation, including football. Space Raiders used to be 10p, they’re now 40p. Add to that the amount of extra revenue now generated by football, and it’s very easy to see how a top 1% midfielder could sell for £100m. Relatively, that would be around £5-7m in the 90s.

£85m for Mateus Fernandes. £100m for Sandro Tonali. £116m for Elliot Anderson. £117m for Morgan Rogers. None of those players are worth that much money. It's not even that 'it's the market', selling clubs have robbed buyers completely blind. Good luck living up to those prices.

Sorry but what is going on with this youth exodus at Tottenham? I realise that we need to recruit some more experience this window, and I get that we could trim some fringe talent, but why are we emptying our talent pool? The only thing that I could get onboard with is if RDZ has made it clear that he wants to bring through 1-2 (max) academy trained talents, and slowly. I imagine there is room for Archie Gray (non-club trained) plus 1-2 more, between Moore, Scarlett, Lankshear and Byfield, with Donley and Williams-Barnett unlikely but outside chances. Odobert, Tel and Bergvall may be sold if they want regularly football which can’t be guaranteed. Thoughts?

Andrey Santos for £50m is a good deal in my opinion. I’m not complaining about Tottenham signing Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. But Andrey Santos is a very good player too.

The £85m generated from the sale of Luka Vuskovic (£50m), Radu Dragusin (£21m), Alfie Devine (£6m) & Alejo Veliz (£8m) has paid for Mateus Fernandes. If Tottenham now sell Cuti Romero (£50m), Djed Spence (£35m), Richarlison (£25m), Pape Sarr (£20m), Vicario (£20m) and Manor Solomon (£15m) for a total of £165m. That would be enough to buy Kroupi (£85m), Savinho (£55m), Leao (£10m Loan Fee + £55m Buy Option Next Summer) and Rico Lewis (£15m). Total net spend for the window would sit at around £150m, essentially Tonali and Van Hecke, with 13 players leaving (with Biss, Joao and Muani) and 10 new players arriving. What are the chances?
