Cobblers form in League One since Xmas Day. We know the stats but it reinforces just how poor it has been when you see it like this #ntfc

@James_ChronNTFC Ask them after the game Henners please… “It looked like a lot of jogging around and half hearted effort, do you think that’s fair to the fans that traveled”

This looks like a game between a Championship side and a League Two side. Which, effectively, it is. Huge gulf in class #ntfc

Tough for a chairman when their club has just been relegated, because they can't always air their dirty laundry on what's gone wrong before they've dealt with the issues in-house - it's a tricky balancing act. At the same time, I feel like this was a bit too close to the more conservative end of the spectrum. To only write 5 paragraphs, and 2 of them are praising the fans for going to Luton which... I mean fair play but come on, it's one of the shortest away trips of the season, you can be in bed by 11. Feels like a slight cop-out. Even if you can't answer the big questions there and then, at least offer some kind of reassurance that they will get answered as best you can. The fact that Kelvin Thomas didn't explicitly apologize or take responsibility for the board's role in this season - other than vaguely say lessons will be learnt - suggests a hint of easy acceptance, because of the financial disparity. That would be partially fair, and I can see that there are major sustainability issues across that division, with inflation driving costs up and up. Lots of owners across the board seem to be becoming disillusioned, and I'm led to believe there's a few at this level that may be low-key looking to sell. So, I can see why Thomas might feel a bit indignant about taking criticism for this season, and would see it more as the board deserving credit for delivering three consecutive seasons at this season. On the other side of the conversation, when you've been relegated with four games to spare - even factoring in significant budgetary limitations - results dictate that there are things you could have done differently, and that fans will want to know what went wrong. Some good work has been going on at Northampton. The East Stand is looking lovely. The club seems to have controlled it's footballing spend much better than they did in the mid/late 2010s. And six of the last 10 seasons have seen them in League One, rather than League Two. But for them to achieve their long-term target of becoming a stable League One club, there's also facets that need to evolve, and that has to be taken seriously. Fairly or otherwise, Thomas' statement will come across as an attempt to half-gloss over that, until and unless he offers fans greater transparency, and a platform to ask the big questions. #NTFC 👞

🙏 Chairman Kelvin Thomas has thanked supporters and says the club's focus moves to trying to return to League One as soon as possible. #ShoeArmy 👞 ntfc.co.uk/news/2026/apri…

@NileHollowell22 @tylerjason_ I have said for many a year that we have more than any teams fair share of fuckwits......combined. Oglethorpe is the front runner.

@tylerjason_ I’ve used the term happy clappers a fair bit, but that tonight is baffling - just been relegated , lost 7 on the bounce….. clap them off . 😂😂😂

@JakeSharpeBBC As ive said to a couple of others by now, this is 1st season in about 25 i wont have attended a game. Think that sums up my level of interest. I will not put the effort in to attend when the players dont do so themselves. Sacking Nolan too late and accepting relegation is so sad.

For the Cobblers Show tonight. How are you feeling about the Cobblers at the moment? Not about how they are playing but your general level of enthusiasm and support. Are you optimistic or starting to plan other things to do with your Saturdays? Let me know ⬇️ #ntfc

@naggerpagger @DrillingCobbler 1st season for me in 25+ years without attending a game. There is no way to justify spending a day to watch that utter shite, it's completely devoid of any intent to win a football match. Im now completely devoid of interest.

@DrillingCobbler Nothing is going to change before the deadline. Not having a manager in place just adds to the uncertainty. There will be a lot of familiar faces not at Sixfields next season. Cobblers fans have low expectations so to piss off so many has been quite some achievement. #UTC

Many will want to see the direction of travel before committing. I suspect (like me) for many it’s not about £. It’s time spent. I’ve given up going like the team has. I simply cannot watch us as things stand. I need to see a desire to put things right. Not words, actions.
Northampton Town@ntfc

🙏 The last few months have clearly been a big disappointment, but planning for what we all hope will be a much better 2026/27 continues, and thank you to everyone who has purchased a season ticket. The discount period runs until May 8th. #ShoeArmy 👞 ntfc.co.uk/news/2026/apri…
