The same school he brought up to condemn @reformparty_uk @RUKWales Cllr Francesca O’Brian. The same Francesca O’Brian who used to work for him. 🚨SWANSEA CONSERVATIVES SUPPORT CITY OF SANCTUARY🚨 Conservative councillor Lyndon Jones criticised the Senedd's Nation of Sanctuary for asylum seekers, before voting in favour of making Swansea a City of Sanctuary. Strange. Jones criticised the Nation of Sanctuary on the basis of its £55 million cost. He said the money "could be better spent on health, to benefit everyone, including people who have come to this country". This is problematic. As we've previously explained, our objections to the Nation of Sanctuary policy are not just related to its cost. More importantly, it's about the message the policy sends. Tackling illegal migration requires a zero tolerance approach. That means making it clear to people in our country illegally that they aren't welcome here. They need to know they won't be "integrated", they will be detained and deported. For this reason, we object to the Nation of Sanctuary on principle. There is nothing compassionate about it at all. Each day, stories emerge of people in this country illegally committing the most appalling crimes, such as sexual assault and rape. Forfeiting control over our borders puts our citizens at risk. Here @SeneddWaste, we've congratulated Welsh Conservatives Senedd members for their anti-Nation of Sanctuary stance. They've clearly and unequivocally pledged to scrap it. The overall cost of the Nation of Sanctuary is, in reality, much more than £55 million. Its must be assessed in the context of the pull factor it creates, by encouraging more people to come here illegally. And the costs taxpayers incur for their crimes. The entire principle of the Nation of Sanctuary must be opposed. Border control must come first.
