On International Women’s Day I am thinking in particular of the women of Ukraine who have borne the brunt of Putin’s 3 year war of aggression: from the wounded female soldiers I have met to the mothers of children now being pulled from the rubble left by Putin’s missiles. It seems incredible and tragic that their suffering - and their children’s suffering - should now be made worse by a US decision to cut intelligence and other support. In the name of simple human compassion I hope President Trump will urgently restore that support, come to an agreement with President Zelenskyy and finally start to put the squeeze on Putin - the aggressor.
