Really interesting 🧵on the imminent demise of @WEP_UK from @HanoverHussy. I hadn’t realised the for-the-blokes agenda was quite centrally dictated. Thanks also to @WepWomen for documenting this, sadly ignoble, little bit of history.

Here, @sanditoksvig makes the Beta-Male Argument for letting males into female sport. That is, because she isn’t very good at sport (in this case, a very specific sport of Toe Touching), this is unfair by the same meaning of fairness that categories seek to secure. It is not the same meaning of fairness that categories seek to secure. It is a meaning of fairness which amounts to having a childish tantrum because you aren’t very good at something and others are. Grow up, Sandy. I rarely make people laugh but you don’t see me whining about how unfair it is that more gifted people make a living off comedy.

@WEP_UK I resigned 2yrs ago when, despite our Sex Based Rights Caucus (@WepWomen) doing everything we could, you made it clear you had no respect for women who knew that sex & reality matters. WEP could have moved mountains - & you failed. You betrayed your own sex.

Discussion of WEP on @BBCWomansHour Interesting that political landscape blamed and no reflection of their huge mission drift from a positive starting position. Failure to be genuinely radical and assertive in the political sphere let all women down. But a puff piece seems apt.

Didn't put to full membership because it was clear they would vote against self ID and for single sex spaces. Mandu's response - scrap the consultation & the Policy Committee and single handedly override the constitution
