Sowellian Governance in full swing!
Since Friday its all I've been talking about and there is more interest in this than i ever could have imagined
A few thoughts and things to share and scroll to #4 for New Sowellian Ideas
1) For those that haven't heard of it, drop everything and go to the website to learn about it
SowellianGovernance.com
This is inspired by Thomas Sowell, one of the greatest modern economists and thinkers of our time.
2) For those that have, @islanddao is actively raising for its own Sowellian "Decentralized Hedge Fund" through @realmsdaos. You can see it here
v2.realms.today/launchpad/SoWE…
3) For those that have seen the page already
On the page, on the right, you'll see "Your DAO Role" after you contribute. This innovation is something we hope will expand to all raises; people will have different roles based on their skin in the game.
The raise is targetting 200k, so that means people with a deposit lower than $200 will only be able to bet on ideas other people introduce. The more you are involved, the more your participation increases....all handled programmatically!
(ofcourse if you are great at betting during the 6 months, you will eventually reach proposer status!)
It's this innovation that makes the Sowellian fund exciting; there is no one manager and anyone has the ability to participate as one, either from merit or contribution.
4) New Sowellian Ideas
I've had some great conversations and some ideas that came up
- Delegation (let someone bet for you)
- Conviction quorum (a higher quorum that can increase a variable ie investment size)
- Conviction quorum #2 ( a higher quorum that can execute the proposal faster)
- Proposal Expiry (a trigger that renders the proposal obsolete if occuring before the outcome evaluation)
- Lending pool (yield on shares)
5) Why set a minimum for Island Capital?
Why have a 200k minimum raise for this. Namely, we have talked to a few people that were part of the previous Sowellian run and the sentiment was that the minimum needs to be meaningful enough for them to spend their time on it. This is how we make sure its worth the time of the people that are most interested in this type of governance.
