🇭🇷🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 | 𝘾𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙖 𝙫𝙨 𝙎𝙘𝙤𝙩𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙 | 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 Despite an improvement in recent performances, back to back defeats for the first time in a qualifying campaign under Steve Clarke mean Scotland are rock bottom of the group League A. After frustrating late goals conceded against both Poland and Portugal, its now 1 win in 14 games and no competitive win since September 2023. It’s not all doom and gloom at the minute however, perhaps some new faces within the squad such as Jack Mackenzie (Aberdeen) and Liam Lindsay (Preston North End) will bring some fresh ideas to the table. Both have been in superb form for their clubs and it might just be the motivation needed throughout the camp. A result would greatly help ease the sense of pressure around the squad, as well as helping with the group position as even a point would mean there is still a big chance of finishing in the top 2 and ultimately helping towards those World Cup qualifying pots. Croatia haven’t been in ideal form themselves until recently before their latest result, a 1-0 victory over Poland. They were previously winless in 4 with a disappointing Euro campaign, finishing 3rd with just 2 points which subsequently knocked them out in the group stage. They’re ranked 12th in the world but have been capable of the occasional mishap recently, a draw and defeat to Wales with narrowly beating Armenia 1-0 twice show this Croatian side could well slip up at any given time which is something Scotland will indefinitely be looking to take advantage of. Croatia have had their fair share of injuries too resulting in a formation change of 3-5-2, so possibly Scotland could capitalise on their adjustment to the fairly new system. However their star man Modric is still going strong and like always when he plays, the midfield is where the most problems are likely to come from. Well plenty of the Tartan Army are making the journey where it will hopefully be a trip to remember to kickstart this campaign. It’s a favourable record for Scotland against Croatia with just 1 defeat in 6 meetings, the last being a 1-0 win for Scotland in Zagreb. Perhaps this record could be inspiring and help get some precious points on the board for the first time this Nations League.

🚆 Just in case you haven't yet booked your inter city express (ICE) travel between cities, using the €29.90 discounted fare for eligible match ticket holders: (Remember these fares aren't covered by the unlimited travel deutchsland tickets, nor your 36 hour free travel pass) ❗ Make sure to book now before Sunday's match, as you can only book 2 days before departure in the group stage & 1 day before in the knockout rounds 🤮 Numerous people trying to book on the day and instead being stung for over €100 per person 🔗 Link to book the discounted fare: (anyone can book, just need to show conductor your fan pass when asked) int.bahn.de/en/buchung/sta…

🇩🇪🚂 EURO 2024 TRAINS 🚂🇩🇪 📩 Loads of messages asking me what train tickets you should buy for your journeys. Here's the details based on if you have match tickets or not _____ ⛔ IF YOU DON'T HAVE MATCH TICKETS: 🚂 almost certainly you'll want the €29 Deutschland ticket (D-ticket). It gives unlimited travel all over Germany on all means of local public transport (local trains, buses, trams, subways etc.) The steps to get it at that price instead of €49 are in the quoted tweet However: 👟 Follow these steps to check if it works for your longer journeys too: 1️⃣ int.bahn.de/en 2️⃣ Put in your journey details 3️⃣ Change 'mode of transport' to 'local transport only' 4️⃣ Check there is an option between your destinations, and make note of the duration 5️⃣ Go back & change 'mode of transport' back to 'all' to see the price & how much quicker the Inter city express (ICE) trains are ⌚ E.g. My search for Frankfurt to Cologne today shows the ICE train is €80 & is 1 hour direct but the local transport (covered by €29 D-ticket) is 3.5 hours with 2 changes ✅ If you're doing multiple journeys like this with no time restrictions then purchasing the D-ticket is definitely worth it ❌ If you are tight for time to make flights then the ICE train may be the best _____ ✅ IF YOU HAVE MATCH TICKETS: 🚂 then the above is true but depending on what journeys you are doing you may NOT need the D-ticket because 🎟️ Your match tickets, trough the fan pass (essentially a Railcard in Euro 2024 app x.com/scotlandscoeff…) means that you: 🆓 qualify for 36 hours free travel in the region of the match (from 6am on match day until 6pm the day after) AND 🚅 You are eligible to buy discounted ICE trains for €29.90 (match ticket entitles you to two fares, one from the match city and one away from the match city) int.bahn.de/en/buchung/sta… ☕ If you want to buy me a coffee then please do ko-fi.com/scotlandscoeff…

Yes, it's head to head first, not goal difference, if teams in the group are tied for points But goal difference is crucial when it comes to deciding which 4 out of the 6 third placed teams progress In the last 6 tournaments (2 Euros, 2 AFCON & 2 Women's World cup) - on only one occasion did goal difference not matter. This was the last AFCON where hosts Ivory Coast snuck through & then won the tournament The difference between marginally losing your first 2 games and losing heavily can be huge. Any loss on Wednesday would mean we're needing to win the last game (at least) 4-0 to get GD of -1 (which was the GD required to progress at the last 2 Euros) Of course, we'll be aiming for 4+ points from the last 2 games regardless (which will almost certainly be enough to qualify) But it now means that Wednesday is even more must-not-lose than it was before last night's skelping A draw on Wednesday would be a good result as it would set us up knowing a win in the last game would (almost definitely) be enough
