I’ve come to realize that the “ancient advanced civilization” believers have IDENTICAL epistemology and thought processes of fundamentalist religious people. They don’t actually try to debunk their own beliefs—they refuse to think critically about what they believe in. It’s a faith. They WANT it to be true. They actively look for evidence to support their worldview and will resist and block out any data that contradicts it. And it makes them feel good. It gives them purpose and power over the world around them. They are chosen to have the capability to see past all the lies. That’s hard to break out of.
