It has been a year or so since I was in the trenches on the election fraud claims, and I forgot how frustrating the pattern can be: > person makes claim about fraud > explain how you know the claim is misleading or invented > person says claim never got heard by the courts > explain how the claim was investigated by LEO or heard before a judge or a court and then got dismissed > person says LEO/judge/courts are corrupt and in on the scheme > explain that there are pro-Trump LEO/judge/courts who examined and dismissed the claim > person says this is just because the truth would be too destabilizing for society And around and around... Every now and again you break through and convince folks, which is worth it. But "stolen election" theories are so much more about vibes than hard evidence, which makes them extremely difficult to address. A lot of people just can't believe Biden beat Trump in 2020, and that's all it comes down to.

Imagine the outrage if a historically non-White character like Pocahontas were made White in a movie. Yet it’s considered acceptable to make all historically White characters non-White in movies. This is racism against White people.

Repliers here seem to be ignoring that in the electoral college, the vote of each person in smaller population states is worth more than in large population states. This is due to each senator having one electoral vote & 2 senators per state. whats-my-vote-worth.oliver-ernst.com.

So you're saying small population states should dictate to large population states? It's more fair that someone in Wyoming gets more say about how the Federal Government treats, say, Boston, than someone in Boston?

This is very close to my Star Wars list. I'd put Solo up higher and The Force Awakens just below Rogue One. I still haven't healed from the disappointment of the prequel releases.

My position is that chopping off your breasts does not make you a man. Claiming you are a man doesn’t make you one. It’s down to chromosomes, recognizing that fact is not due to anger. And ascribing that motive to someone because they won’t blindly agree with your view…is exactly the ad hominem attack you accuse me of.

@MurrayDrever This is just a summary of the argument. I don't see any goal posts moved. Just talking around the idea that you think Elliot Page has been harmed by transitioning, & that informs your opinion of this, yet-to-be-released movie.

I interpret your shifting goal posts as bad faith. I will list a few examples to show what I mean: You asked why we are hating the movie before its release. When I responded you ascribed my motivation to be anger at people being themselves. I clarified that I am sad for her because I see that harm has been done to her. You then said nobody told her that or did that to her. When i mentioned the doctors and scars you moved the posts to “choice” and claimed its irrelevance to liking a movie. I explained why Achilles should go to an actual man, (ideally one in prime physical condition) You then claim that Nolan just likes working with her(no problem here, just cast her in an appropriate role) Then add that I am intentionally misunderstanding. I attempt to clarify, I have no problem with her living her life as she sees fit. I also acknowledge society needs to be more accepting of people who don’t fit into the usual mold. But that doesn’t change the she has absolutely been harmed. You then shift again to claiming I want to force people to do what I want, directly after I said the opposite. I used suicide and drugs as examples of behaviour that harms even though it’s the choice of the person who does it. Then you asked if I’ve not watched a movie because an actor does drugs (as if that’s the same as a woman playing a convincing man in a role) So yes we have fundamental disagreements, and you have not engaged in good faith. You continue to ascribe bad intentions and anger to me as you can’t understand another reason someone might disagree with you. I want to believe you have good intentions even now, but if you can’t engage thoughtfully with someone who is trying to be courteous in their disagreement with you. Then all I have left is prayer.

@MurrayDrever You are interpreting our fundamental disagreement as "bad faith". And you're just hoping God steps in, happens to agree with everything you believe, and changes me. Maybe stop trying to change others if they're not harming anyone. I think God would want that.

@wheezywaiter People commit suicide, by their own choice. But it harms them and their family. People do drugs to hide from pain of all kinds, it still does harm. Some of the worst mistakes in the world have been done with the best intentions.

She can have whatever personality she wants…those are infinite. Personality does not change biological reality. She wants to dress like a stereotypical man, go ahead. The world needs to be better at accepting those who don’t fit neatly into those boxes. She should be herself, but she can never be a man. You seem to misunderstand, perhaps intentionally, that pushing these lies onto others is causing far greater harm to our society and culture.

@MurrayDrever Pretty sure Christopher Nolan just liked working with Elliot on Inception and recast him, like most directors recast actors they like. And you fundamentally, perhaps intentionally, misunderstand that people are more able to be who they are now. Your "truth" is harmful.

Her mistake, along with the doctors and anyone in her life too afraid to compassionately tell her the truth. She matters, her humanity matters. As for why it ruins the movie… Achilles should be a beautifully physical specimen of man, an Adonis if you will. The fact they chose a girl, tells me they prioritize virtue signals over compelling story. This isn’t a movie anymore, it’s propaganda.

@Ike_Saul I don't think it's that simple. For one, I don't see much "derangement" on Bluesky. But I don't think that's where EVERYONE went. There's also threads, instagram, facebook, YouTube, substack, or just not being on social media at all. I don't really know anyone on Bluesky actually

This is obvious and was always obvious. Echo chambers don't work. We need to be breaking out of silos, not further entrenching ourselves in them. The people on Bluesky and Truth Social are more deranged, angry, and ill-informed than they ever were on Twitter.
