@jemelehill I’m always amazed how people have this belief that politicians can run anything. They don’t and they can’t. If Pratt is useless then that makes all three of the candidates. It is very clear that complex cities need those with business acumen not career politicians.

Spencer Pratt is an elite. Fool blew his $10 million fortune on wine, crystals and partying. He’s a proven liar. Said he was living in a trailer when in fact, he staying in a $1500-a-night hotel in one of the richest parts of LA flanked by personal armed security. While it’s terrible that he lost his house in the fire, he didn’t have homeowners insurance and admitted he was house poor. Thinking it’s a terrible idea to put a political novice who cannot manage his own personal finances in charge of a complex city with a $15 billion budget isn’t “sneering elitism” — it is called common sense.
Phineas Fahrquar@irishspy

This kind of sneering elitism is exactly how you get Trump. Or Pratt.

Spencer Pratt is using reverse graffiti (also called clean graffiti) to highlight LA’s streets. By power washing stencils into years of built-up sidewalk dirt, he’s revealing clean pavement underneath — literally showing what a cleaner Los Angeles could look like. Think bigger for LA. We deserve cleaner, safer streets. Vote Pratt. Vote for LA. Let’s clean this city up together! 🧹 (Video: AI)

There is no such thing as free healthcare, someone has to pay for it. The UK National Health Service blighted with medical procedure constraints because of massive costs and mismanagement. Waiting times running into years for some minor operations. I listen to the Sanders of the world going over board on how good the British NHS is, he doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about.

@stephenrodrick @RollingStone Other than writing for Rolling Stone, the pop magazine, I can’t see too much in your data set either. At least Spencer Pratt is attempting to do something worthwhile with his life.

Oh I agree, Baez, Young etc. However, I’m criticizing talk show hosts who should be entertaining and transporting people away from the politics and the troubles of life. Even for a fleeting moment. Every late night show condemns Trump. It just gets boring and predictable. For international stars to glorify second rate comedians, despite their political leanings is beneath them. But that’s entertainment these days. They have to stay relative somehow……

@Whiskyman @JamesTaylor_com There’s a proud tradition in this country of musicians, comedians, writers and other artists criticizing those in power. People like Woody Guthrie, Carlin, Zappa, the Smothers Bros and many others. It’s called free speech. Your criticism of them is actually what’s un-American.

It was bittersweet, last night at the end of Stephen Colbert’s brilliant run on the Late Show. Looking back on the decades he has given us and on his courageous and inspiring resistance to the corruption and lies of the Trump takeover, I see him as a true patriot. [1/3]

Philipb1958, it looks like you have a one dimensional view of life, that being hate Trump. I haven’t even mentioned him. My view is that chat show hosts should be balanced in their views. I don’t care who they hate, what I do care about is that they have the mechanism to spread hate. I also don’t think entertainers should promote division.

@Whiskyman @JamesTaylor_com Give it a try, genius. I’m interested to see the extent of your vocabulary. I suspect someone who actually believes tRump is a great leader is rather limited in that regard.

When the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson signed off in 1992, 55 Million of America's 250 Million people watched. (More than 1 in 5 Americans) Stephen Colbert's final show drew 6.7 Million out of 342 Million Americans (less than 2%) That's the difference between being an American institution and preaching to a small and dying liberal choir.

A TV late night host that a very small proportion of the populace would ever stay up to watch , because most people work next day, becomes a god like figure in the minds of a few and the glitterati. He’s out of a job now, no doubt his next move will be to that special place, his basement for banal podcasts.

@spencerpratt @imbrettcooper Spencer, the price gouging is unbelievable. 55 Heras fence panels should cost half that price, or on rental no more than $1K a month. LA prices are ridiculous, get some out of towners to quote.

@brianstelter I doubt if it could be classified as work. Wage receivers maybe. The show was dull and predictable with a washed up host. Should have been closed down years ago.

In a 1:52am post on Truth Social, Trump said "Colbert is finally finished at CBS," adding, "thank goodness he's finally gone!" That's the president cheering the loss of American jobs, since roughly 200 people are out of work due to the cancellation of "The Late Show."

Gavin Newsom is telling Californians to boycott Chevron because they're "ripping you off." Today: - Chevron, L.A. County CA: $6.39 - Chevron, Jackson County MS: $3.99 It's not the oil companies ripping us off in California, it's Gavin Newsom and the Democrats. Vote for change!

@SenAdamSchiff Incredible that you should take political advantage at an extremely sensitive time such as this for Ms Gabbard and family. To not retract your statement demonstrates someone desensitized to human emotion. Certainly not an upstanding citizen of moral character.

My thoughts go out to Tulsi Gabbard and her family, as her husband battles this serious health problem. I hope and pray that he makes a speedy and full recovery. While the circumstances around her departure are deserving of our sympathy, let’s be clear: Tulsi Gabbard’s only positive contribution to our nation's national security is her resignation. She politicized intelligence. She dismantled critical agencies keeping Americans safe. She weaponized the IC to pursue baseless election fraud claims. And more. We must ensure that her tenure — marked by a devotion to the person of the president and not to the security of the country — represents a terrible exception at DNI and not the new normal.

Insane corruption from a homeless project in Los Angeles, California - The Weingart NGO got a $30 million dollar grant for homeless housing - A senior citizen home was cleared of elderly residents - The property was listed on the market for $11.2 million, but it was then sold to Weingart for $27 million (huge gap of money that disappeared) The city pays the NGO extremely high rates, $400,000 per bed per year for homeless housing on this property The building sits empty The NGO has no obligation to put a homeless person in a bed, so they can bill for every room at $400,000 per year with no one in them It doesn’t stop there. Taxpayers also cover the purchase, operations, upkeep, and problems even if the facility sits empty The Weingart NGO operates around 10 similar homeless housing facilities We need prison sentences for every Democrat involved in these deals and every NGO executive Spencer says he will hand them over to the IRS and DOJ for investigation and prosecution I saved him some time and looked up who handed the money out Key Democrats Who Oversaw the Money - Mayor Karen Bass (Democrat) - Former Mayor Eric Garcetti (Democrat) - Key member on the Housing & Homelessness Committee is Nithya Raman (Democrat) who has been involved in oversight and funding decisions - LA County Board of Supervisors (All Democrats) I think the problem is clear
